Here are dome of my poor man meal recipes I'd like to share. I like to char the hot dog, well not burn it. I really don't like the hot dog to be raw. Then I warm the corn tortilla add mayo then roll it up and enjoy what I call Mexican Hot dog. I also like to buy Farmer John's ham and warm up a flour tortilla add mayo cut the ham in small pieces and add in the tortilla roll it up and enjoy. I don't heat up the ham. Growing up, my mom forced me to work in the fields during school break. She said that if I dropped out of school, that she didn't want a school drop out and therefore, I would have to work in the field's. I learned how to eat cold food when it was supposed to be hot and hot food got cold. I like to buy these already made tostadas. I forgot the name, it has 2 parrots in front of the package. I think there's 10 tostadas in the package. I like to boil 1 or 2 eggs, once boiled I smash them up add mayo, salt to your liking mix and add to your tostada. It's pretty much like an egg salad sandwich but on a tostada. I'm weird and try to make simple food's when I'm low on cash. Also, I'm not s picky eater. Cook a lb or less of ground beef add seasoning to your liking. I'm sure you can cook ground turkey if you don't like ground beef. In a big pot add water, salt and a tiny bit of oil so the shells won't stick, add a small bag of shells (I buy in the Mexican isle) (conchas, once they are soft drain water add a small can of tomato sauce, add ground beef or turkey and that's a poor man's meal. Instead of using a spoon I use the Lay's chips. I hope you enjoy my recipes.

Great video! Lived thru those, too! Doing missionary work we came across a young couple with two children, living in a tiny house with dirt floors. The young man invited us to his home for dinner. We got there but he hadn't come home from shepherding goats for a local farmer. I thought it odd his wife hadn't started dinner, but we waited. He came home soon after with a sack of fresh cut corn, some still on the stock. He started a fire, roasted the corn on the cob, put out mayonnaise, ketchup, chili powder, salt, and lemons. How arrogant of me! That WAS their dinner! After that realization, my feet were back on the ground. I felt honored that this young family shared all they had with us. That was the best corn on the cob we had ever had!

We would have beans and franks (baked beans with cut up hot dogs, I forget if we had any sides? And then we'd have Denty Moore beef stew, and my mom would put a slice of toast on the bottom to stretch it more. I still like these meals, and they remind me of my mom. And right now with the situation, I can't see my mom. (It's 2020. We'd also get a PB&J sandwich everyday for lunch for school. And we'd get applesauce containers, but I would complain to my mom if she didn't get the kind with cinnamon.

I had different struggle meals as a child. They are actually my favorite until this day. My mom used to giggle when I got older and would tell me I love poor man s meals, which is something most ppl don t go crazy for. I never understood what she meant until later on. Anyways, my favorite is rice cooked with brown lentils in beef broth and a little cumin. It s delicious! Struggle meals are sometimes the best meals. Idk I d the nostalgia or what.

It is a terrifying statement for our world today, in the 21st century, the difference in # of views for this this video. All of your recipes are amazing, with an avg 5K-35K hits. This one is almost a quarter million views. Most of us are one payday away from a complete monetary disaster. A most scary commentary on our civilization! Very grateful for you sharing these recipes.

Your first two struggle recipes are favorites of mine. I used to roll a hot dog and some cheese in a flour tortilla and microwave it until the hot dog was cooked and the cheese was melted. And your pb&j taco made me smile. I've been making something similar for ages, only I roll it up like a burrito. So very yummy! Thanks for sharing!

This is gonna sound gross, but our go-to struggle meal was macaroni and tomato juice. You cook the macaroni, add butter, and then pour on the tomato juice. Salt and pepper to taste. Everyone I have ever introduced to it has LOVED it lol. it's actually quite delicious! Try it. you're welcome!

So funny I seriously didn't know these were considered struggle meals since I ate them almost daily during my childhood. I should feed these to my kids, thankfully they know nothing about these meals. My favorite was the hotdog, I used to dip it in el pato sauce before every bite mmmm
