Soft and Tender - How To Make Tamales Simply Mama Cooks Crunch: This is about the easiest recipe I have seen. you made it look easy. When I lived in South Texas the ladies would get together and make tamales, the kids would run all over town selling them. you could buy them back then for 2 dollars a dozen. They were mostly made with wild hog but they were so good. Back then I could sit down and eat a dozen by myself. I prefer the beef ones that are spicy. yummy. My mouth was watering when you cut into that tamale. Good video.

Hello everyone! I decided to make tamales for the first time ever using your recipe. All the ingredients are proportioned well and even with my complete inexperience, I only had enough Masa left to make one tamale before I ran out of meat. They turned out perfect. Thank you! For those that need more info, I tweaked a few things such as: I used lard in the Masa; I used the same liquid I steeped the peppers in and put this into the pepper puree. After, I added a pinch of cinnamon to the puree and this made the flavors pop! I also didn't use beef; I used venison. I never have cooked with deer before but my husband started hunting and we have 40lbs of deer meat that needs to be used. Soo, I used the shanks by braising them with onion soup mix, balsamic vinegar and a bit of water. I did put an onion with it like in the video and I roasted a garlic head along with it as well. Cover with foil, 300 for 3 hours. The onion and roasted garlic went into the puree. It did not turn out gamey tasting at all. What a great solution to how to use deer meat! Big thank you for a wonderful recipe!

I puree a cup of fresh or frozen corn to the dough & I prefer using Masa Harina. The fresh or frozen corn added really reinforces that corn flavor that I love so much. The Masa Harina has a better flavor & texture. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I backpacked through Mexico in 1982 for 3 months & fell in love with the food & learned great recipes. We were invited to stay at several farms & ranches in exchange we helped with chores & the harvest. The families were so kind & refused to accept our money but I secretly left money behind after we departed. The best experience.

We are gonna try your recipe, it looks fantastic! but, I have to ask, if you ever listen to your self talk? you talk total English until you say tamales which you pronounce in Spanish. I have to tell you that it is very annoying to listen to. Many many people do this, mostly all females. but why? Either talk with a Spanish accent or English, don't mix them. Your voice is so perfect to the ears, until you say tamales but any how we cant wait to try your tamales. Thanks!

Thanks for this video. I ve never had a tamale before ( I m from the north. But I ve seen them before and I m glad I saw this video, because I thought that you was supposed to eat the corn husk. (Don t laugh to hard because I never saw how people ate them after they were made. My son lives in Houston Texas, so I think the next time I visit I will have the courage to eat them ( and not be embarrassed trying to eat the husk. . Wish I could try yours it looks delicious

My paternal grandmother died when I was 10. I continued to stay summers at my grandparents house though it was only my grandpa there. One morning when I was 11 he asked me if I would make biscuits and gravy. A said I didn't know how. He produced a binder full of my grandma's hand written recipes. I learned how to make my grandma's biscuits and gravy.

Hi I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with, I did everything right with making the masa and all that but when I went to steam them the masa wasn't cooking, it stayed mushy, did I maybe add too much water to the steamer pot? I steamed them for 4 hours total and kept periodically checking them and still was mushy
