Welcome to Surabaya, the second biggest city in Indonesia, and an Indonesian street food paradise. Get ready for an ultimate and unforgettable street food tour! Here s all the Indonesian food we ate today: Pecel Kriuk Dan Rawon Bu Lili - If there s one single dish that represents Surabaya, it would have to be rawon, an Indonesian beef soup with black keluak nut. It s so delcious and has been rated as one of the best soups in the world. We also tried another classic breakfast dish called nasi pecel - rice, vegetables, and peanut sauce. Lontong Balap Mbah Ato - Next up we went to an amazing stall to eat Lontong Balap - compressed rice, bean sprouts, peanut sauce, sweet soy sauce. Soto Ambengan Pak Sadi - This is one of those heritage institution restaurants that s famous for serving Soto Ayam, Indonesian chicken soup. I loved all the herbs in the broth and the toppings. Sate Klopo Ondomohen Bu Asih - There are many variations of sate in Indonesia and one of the unique versions in Surabaya is Sate Klopo - sate with shredded coconut. Rujak Cingur dan Sop Buntut Genteng Durasim - Another dish Surabaya is famous for is called Rujak Cingur, a very unique combination of fruits and vegetables with cow nose. The greatest thing about the salad is the peanut sauce with shrimp pate and green mango. Bebek Goreng Papin - You can t go to Surabaya without trying their local bebek goreng deep fried duck - I m going to just go ahead and say that it s the best fried duck on earth. This legendary Indonesian street food stall makes it like no other - so juicy and moist on the inside and so crispy on the outside, with insane amounts of flavor. Tahu Campur Cak Sadak - Finally another unique dish to Surabaya is a mix of tofu called Tahu Campur - Mix of tofu with vegetables, noodles, and beef tendon soup. What a day and what an incredible Indonesian street food tour in Surabaya!

Mark is the definition of a real genuine foodie, this foodie guy from surabaya has no idea what he is talking about bro is a fraud, i'm not even from surabaya but i definitely would've done my research and put up more effort if i had the chance to eat with the one and only mark wiens, why the frick is he saying that soto is umami is he dumb? and why is he speaking indonesian to mark like what does he expect mark to understand indonesian, btw Mark i love the video keep it up, but you needa better guide.

My mother spent some time in Surubaya, when she was a young girl, and later in Singapore, where our family lived, she always reminisced about this wonderful time for her and her family, and about the glorious flavor of this dish she so much wanted to have again, called petchil. Although she never did get the chance to, I want to thank you Mark, for giving me some insight into what she was describing and how tasty it was to her. I love it when you do Asian countries!

So with that being said, 2 of Mark's No. 1 food categories (Chicken and Duck) are from Indonesia, Ayam Taliwang from Lombok and Bebek Goreng Papin from Surabaya. can't argue with that! Them ducks look amazing I'm from Surabaya, haven't tried those Papin's my whole life need to go grab some ASAP!
my no. 1 Fried Duck at the moment is Bebek Pak Qomar, let's see if it's gonna change in few days time

Have you been to Sumatra, Mark? The land of fantastic foods and stunning sceneries, Sumatra is where you must go first when you want to do a culinary vlog on Indonesia. If you've been there before, I implore you to go again and visit interesting good food places in Aceh, around Lake Toba, West Sumatra of course, the Riau archipelago (kepulauan, and South Sumatra.

I'm Malaysian but am so in awe of Indonesian cuisine coz its an extremely diverse cuisine in all aspects like the very local ingredients used, the immense ammount of endemic knowledge involved, the long precolonial history and philophosy of even the most humble-looking street foods, the ever-so creative continuous food invention and innovation. among others

I think the one component of some Asian dishes that I don't care for is if they are too sweet. If I am expecting delicious, savory food and taste a lot of sugar, it ruins it for me. Mark was being positive and polite on the last dish in this video, but I could tell, there was too much sugar in the broth.

I am an adventurous eater. But this is too much. I love Mark and Ying, but this is not something I could do. I'm such a hypocrite. But it is what it is. Won't eat brains, that's the soul, the face of the animal is another no no. Octopus? No. They are too smart. But I love Mr. Wien's

Ok, Mark Wiens. You've definitely travelled for food. But I am curious if you have ever found a food that you didn't like and couldn't eat. Even Andrew Zimmern has come across foods that he can't stomach. You should do a video of places that you simply said I dont like that.

I m sorry, but I don t want to eat anything that has to go through a chemical process so I can eat it without possibly dying I know most/all foods go through some type of process, but I ll stick to the basic broths chicken, beef, or shrimp!

Hey Mark, have you ever gotten sick to your stomach after eating the street foods in Asia? It looks very unsanitary how they prepare and cook the street foods.
