Mark, I have always been a big fan of your series. Your videos are really strong in bringing out the atmosphere of the places you visit and excitement in visiting those new places. Ying is very competent and professional with her shooting and you, with the editing (I assume. I've noticed recently that you added a 'new trick' with your clearly shown enthusiasm (kinda less pronounce in the past) and that really makes the whole video so much more entertaining to watch. It really expresses the kind of feeling I have when I visit new places as well. A suggestion though, is that your signature move (notice that it also got an updated version, looks kinda different from the past) can be a little more varied. Reserve that for food that are 8/10 and above. Your 'head-nodding' nice for 6-8 and a new 'it's okay' expression for average tasting food. I was watching your old yakitori memory lane video and you gave your signature move when you tasted the sweet teriyaki sauce and I was like 'IT'S JUST TERIYAKI SAUCE'. Nonetheless, that makes me chuckle a little. I am also a big fan of another travel blogger, Eatyourkimchi with simon and martina. Very strong in their dialogue but doesn't quite bring out the excitement of visiting a place or eating new food. They are definitely funnier though, but that's not really quite your style.

I was in Hawaii a few months ago and to be honest, the food did not impress me at all. I thought, for the most part, it was overpriced for what was delivered. I had shrimp from a food truck and it was about USD 14 for a poorly done dish. I was astounded at how bad it was. If you have an issue with your salt intake, tell them or else your tongue will be in for a shock. Don't get me started on the fish and sweet pork tacos that I had on the North Shore. Small with the insult of no flavor and no kick for about USD 13-15 bucks Ugh. The garbage can was almost overflowing in the dining area. >. < The best meal I had was a lunch set at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ on Lewers Street in Waikiki. Delicious, great, and I mean really great service and at an outstanding price point. I had Bibimpap one day and yakiniku on another. I kept kicking myself for going there towards the end of my trip. If you're in Waikiki, I highly recommend this place. It was great Delicious Oh, I knew of this place from my time in Japan. I used to eat there quite often as it was always nice.

Your videos are great Mark You describe things very well while you eat and makes my mouth water every time watching you eat. I'm sure the Kal Bi ribs are great but I agree with Klaas Barends down below where the small portion of the Kim Chee is for 5 bucks. That is pretty expensive and the KalBi plate for 14 is outrageous That's a restaurant price. I Live in LA and we have some killer Kal Bi ribs here but unless its a restaurant, its lot less than 14 bucks and the Kim Chee. well you can get a whole jar for 5 bucks.

I can be sure that Korean Kalbi is one of the most delicious foods in the world. If you visit a Korean town or Korea, you have to try it. in particular, it is very good with Kimchi and rice. I am so sorry because the kimchi is so expensive. However, I don't know the situation of Hawaii. I may need a lot of transportation fee. However, even thou I consider the transportation cost, it is really expensive. I want to eat galbi I want to go back to South Korea.

14 bucks for that much for beef rib is worth it but not including kimchi kinda disappointing. It even costs 5 bucks. Perhaps, that's cost of living in Hawaii. I would swap the mac with kimchi. Mark does know what he was enjoying. BBQ with kimchi is a must. He was willing to spend 5 extra for it. Smart dude. Thanks for the video. I gotta run to Hawaii now.

Damn, those short ribs look amazing. I can almost taste them I'd rather have white steamed rice, Like you Mark, l love white steamed short grain rice, it makes for really good sticky rice. I find that the short grain rice has alot more moisture than long grain rice. Yumo

Kalbi is usually 11 or 12 at yummys which is a local korean restaurant. But mark & ying are in kahuku which is a busy touristy area so obviously it will be pricy regardless. The portion was big and not skimpy at all. I miss plate lunches like this in florida. food here is terrible.
