Hey Finally, somewhere where I've actually eaten I'm pretty sure that's the exact same Shawarma restaurant I go to whenever I'm in the area also. There's an amazing number of Shawarma stalls all over Bangkok (and a few in Chiang Mai, too, the ones in this particular area are the most inexpensive and among the tastiest. As in Amsterdam, they all seem to be halal, too. From what I've seen, Doner is slightly different from Shawarma - in a Doner, the meat is ground (like a sausage or kebab) and cast into a cylinder, and then heated on the same apparatus. With a Shawarma, the meat isn't ground, but is sliced into layers, the layers are skewered onto the rotating thing. There's also the Greek equivalent - the Gyros, which is like a Doner. All three words are supposedly based on the verb to turn or to spin in different languages. In Malaysia they're just known as kebab, usually. - Iskandar

wow Istanbul is really a foodie place I went there three times and I wanna go back again to IstanbulMy suggestions: - try the stuffed mussels (street food) you will find it in taksim and ortakoy. - nus-ret restaurant - hafez mustafa (for sweets especially kunafa)P. S: the taxi drivers will really trick you by some illusion tricks. For example you will give them 100 and suddenly they will replace it with 10 and convince you that you gave them 10 And you will pay more. An advice for me when you give them 100 tell them first: see Its 100 right? And give it to them slowly Im sorry to tell you that but that what happened to us. Sometime they will take more money from you so if its like 30 they will tell you that it costs 60 Be aware from thievesBe aware from freezing cold weather But other than that its really an amazing place.

Happy new year Mark & Ying. as you mentioned in the video you're goingvto visit Turkey this year. Turkey is an amazing country with amazing food culture. it is one of the few countries in the world which food is really a big part of their heritage and culture. as a long time follower of your vlogs and as an Israeli chef i was wondering if you are planning to visit israel this year, if you are already in region? Israeli food is a mixture of north african, arab, eastern European jewish food. it is an amazing mixture of cultures combined. if you do decide to visit i will be more then happy to show you what is the. israeli culinary scene is all about. continue making your amazing vlogs.

mark wiens; Turkish food has 2 dimensions to it; the grilled meat / fish type dishes you will see in the city and on the streets, and then a vast amount of more 'home style' slow cooked dishes. These are harder to find in restaurants but there is a stunning variety. If you know anyone, home cooked will be your best bet or otherwise unassuming looking low key eateries may have this type of great food too. Enjoy

Stationed in Turkey from 1984 to 1987. Loved the food. always fresh and simple, but tasty. I loved the way so many dishes were cooked in brick ovens. spent most my time in Adana. Seemed every region had thier version of popular dishes. oh ya. the bread called eckmic spelled wrong I'm sure is out of this world. and yes the history in Turkey is fascinating. enjoy

Mouth wateringly delicious I have not been to Istanbul (it is on the Bucket List, I am desperate to see St Sophia) but we do have a lot of Turkish and Middle Eastern eating establishments here in Australia. I cannot recall ever encountering a dud. Truth. Not once. Quite amazing. Like Greeks, the Turks perform the most amazing miracles with lamb. Quite wonderful
