Talking about how to make a grilled cheese sandwich, and not using a sandwich grill press, is a failure at the start. I don't understand why anyone wastes time making grilled sandwiches in a pan, it takes long and it's far inferior to a sandwich press, not to mention greasy. You will absolutely NEVER, EVER achieve that level of crisp on the outside, and that level of melt on the inside, when using a pan. You need a grill sandwich press, they cost less than a half-decent pan.

You are changing nothing by putting a sun glasses to protect you from onion gas. you should put some water to your face and that's it. Also by dropping the onion inside a water before cutting it, will slow the emissions of onion gas.

What others heard: We're not making pro Mac and Cheese, we're just messing around and having fun.
What my philosophical self heard: Don't take everything seriously, sometimes just be lay back and have some good time.

If you put cold butter on a pan, to melt, you can put bread on top of it. No need to soften the butter. No need to sacrifice flavor and crispiness by using mayo.

I'm a firm believer in slow-frying the sandwich on low heat, about 8 minutes per side. You'll get the best results in crispy crunchiness that way.
