Always makes me shake my head when people get so prescriptive about what exactly makes up the so-called 'Full English'. I prefer to call it a 'fry-up' or 'cooked breakfast' to avoid this kind of pedantry - it just sounds less specific. Everyone has their preferences. Black pudding is a must for me. What Hawksmoor are (were) serving is their version of a fry-up, using a few top-quality ingredients that you wouldn't find in a normal local caff. I'm not sure what's wrong with that and why that has riled up so many people in the comments, but hey. YouTube. With reference to the bone marrow and 'tradition' - go back to earlier eras and people who could afford to ate all kinds of stuff for breakfast. Devilled kidneys, mutton chops, liver etc. Wouldn't be surprised if marrow was sometimes served. Either way, if it's tasty and goes well with the other stuff, what's the problem?

That breakfast and scotch egg made me hungry watching you enjoy it. Thank you mate I appreciate your love for our Great Britain. Take care and keep enjoying us and our customs and traditions and I hope you had a safe trip home, please come again because we need the great reviews and encouraging words by friends of the U. K. like you mate so thank you. East End of London where Im from, and yes I am a real Cockney. Chicken tikka masala is a totally British curry of which we export 1000s tonnes to India every year.

Northen English breakfast. it's simple you have two sausages and two bacon with two black puddings crispy on the outside soft in the centre and two eggs done to your liking then some tomatoes grilled or tinned up to you then some beans and two fried bread lightly salted and two pieces of toast lightly buttered and some mushrooms cooked in butter finally you would choose your drink most people would have tea or coffee served with milk and sugar this caused a big argument with the misses

Watch this everyone because you get a real sense of British food from an honest reviewer. What people have to realise is that all the foods you ate where originally peasant foods or dishes accept the the full English which was only for the wealthy at the time it was first put together and thats why the simplest foods seem to be so good because they are. Scones either cream first or jam first, it really depends on where you are in England. Lots a lots to see.

Oh my gosh yes, the pudding! I was in Edinburgh last June/July with my sister, and the last night we were there we had dinner at Grey's Tavern. I had the Duck Confi, and for dessert we both had the toffee pudding. They cooked their's the REALLY old fashioned way, because it was in a ball shape, meaning that it had been boiled in a cloth. And I swear, we both agreed it had been the best thing we ate they whole trip.

I'm born and bred Italian but educated and grew up in London and Kent since the age of 12. Sticky toffee pudding is not only the best English food but arguably in my top 5 of great dessert foods in the whole world. English steamed puddings are massively underrated. Just as are British cheeses. As you visited borough market, you should've gone to Neal's yard and sampled some great British cheeses too.

That full English is just wrong! Bubble and squeak? Morrow? Things you never seen in a traditional English cafe and leave the beans alone there good without all that fancy stuff in it! Now this is the real things you get in a full English breakfast, eggs, beacon, beans, hash browns, mushrooms, tomato, black pudding, sausage and fried bread it's simple food without the fancy nonsense

Sam really like your stuff. I admired your courage in eating pie and mash, most non Londoners turn their noses up at this gourmet delight. Going to Hawksmoor etc was very upmarket. Down market is more realistic. often I eaten at high end places paying top whack for mediocre food and service. Some places are just tourist traps. Glad you enjoyed your trip to London

Thank you for dispelling a lot of myths about how bad British food is supposed to be. I must say however, the English breakfast you had is a gourmet version. Most full English breakfasts will have bacon, sausage, fried egg, black pudding, mushrooms, baked beans, tomatoes and either toast or fried bread. You won't find bone marrow, beef or bubble and squeak.
