This recipe for (smoked) beer can chicken is the absolute BEST! Cooked on my new Traeger grill. Ian: I found you guys thanks to a YouTube recommended link - probably the only time its ever recommended anything great - and since then my culinary world has been broken wide open. You've led me onto many many great things that are now a staple for my cooking, such as Kewpie, cooking on a rack, instant-read thermometers and many others. I'm regularly heard quoting famous lines such as Don't be cheap with the toppings, Fat means flavour PEOPLE, and effing delicious. I absolutely love the no give a shit attitude of the team and the way you make cooking, in general, feel easy which is something I've believed for years, that it should be and it should be fun. I've just come back from the Post Office with my brand new If fat means flavor shirt, and I cannot wait to show it off to the fine people of Skukuza in the Kruger National Park in South Africa (where I get to call home) - saw this giveaway (not competition) and thought that this would be bucket list stuff should I win this prize. Basically, all summed up - PICK ME! It's a long haul flight so you know I'll be grateful to be there. Plus, I eat anything so you could make anything and I would still effing love it. And I want to see Max's nipple rings, I still believe he has those.

I made drunk chicken just the other day. My rub is a bit different than yours, I prefer to go in a more Italian direction. One thing I do that I would recommend to everyone is, before inserting the beer, stuff a couple cloves of garlic, a couple of lemon wedges and some sprigs of Thyme and Rosemary to the inside. Believe me, especially if you are using a proper Pilsner beer, ( not that toilet water american beer) but a good German or Belgium beer, when the flavour of the beer mixes with the lemon and garlic and rosemary and infuses into the meat, it is beyond description.

A few questions for anyone: 1. How do you store brown sugar to keep it loose? 2. Does the alcohol in the beer have anything to do with the results? I'm a beer drinker, but think this may be better with pop like 7-up. 3. Will a different style of beer effect the flavor? I'm a Coors drinker, but would a dark beer bring more to this chicken party? 4. How about a turkey, and a 40 oncer? Just kidding. Thank you anyone.

This is my staple dinner I've done for so many people. If you give it another try place tin foil down the top of the chicken only to block the steam from the beer. The beer boils at a low temp and it cooks the meat while the smoke cooks the skin. Moist inside from the steam and crunchy outside. Enjoy and I love your videos!

Damn Sam, that stuff under you lower lip is killing me! LOL! I have a pellet smoker and have not done a beer can chicken as I am not sure there is a need for the beer/moisture. I leave it a little lower temp (275 or so) and it always turned out fine. How about adding spices/aromatics to the beer?

This is actually really bad for you, since the beer and heat dissolves the aluminum and deposits it into the meat, or so I've heard. This is different from aluminum paranoia because the hot beer is actually dissolving it. Maybe a stainless steel can or cup would be better

What about a steel cup that would fit in the stand and using a different liquid, maybe a mojo flavoring to infuse from the inside or something? Maybe try a darker beer and see what works better for flavor, but I don't think a highly hopped style would work well here

Mannn I LOVE your videos but you ALWAYS close your eyes and cream your pants when you try anything you make. Even its just a couple sauces mixed together. Save the closed eye orgasms for when the food REALLY tastes good so I know its real bb girl.

We love beer can chicken at our house. I also take an aluminum baking pan, potatoes, carrots, onions and some avocado oil and put them on a rack under the chicken. Chicken dinner complete with roasted veggies and not a drop of chicken fat is wasted!
