When you're looking to treat yourself on a cold night, chicken with a creamy white wine sauce is always a favourite. We mix it up a bit by simply adding hazelnuts, which go brilliantly with this tried and tested classic. For the full recipe visit You can also buy our book here

Yup, that's going to help- it's a terrific rule of thumb (I always remember too late that eggs go into cold water. Now I'm curious as to why that is a recognisable pattern. But you needn't answer that.
I'm pretty new to the kitchen, so it's great to get tips and tricks for making my life a little easier.

Hello! I'm making this tonight for mothers day. I bought a mixed nuts pack (couldnt find hazelnut packets ) and have discovered not many hazelnuts. So can I add other nuts in as well. There are peanuts, almonds, cashews, walnuts, macadamias and pistachios.

The added salt to the potato water is for flavouring yes. As a general rule of thumb, for anything grown underground you start from cold and bring to boil, but anything grown above ground is better to put into boiling water. Hope that helps!

Pro tip for mashed potatoes, if you have a standing mixer with the balloon whisk attachment you can throw your cooked potatoes in there and all your butter, cream, seasoning etc. This method saves me tonnes of time in restaurants

Why do you start with cold water when boiling potatoes but boiling water when cooking rice? I thought it was the other way around. And is the added salt (to the potato water) merely for flavouring?

I watch you guys at night, when I get home from work. 10pm and later, to where I am tired and do not want to cook, but everything looks so good and I get SO HUNGRY! Why do I punish myself.

It may well reduce slightly. as you don't have to cook right through to the bone. but it'll depend on their size. A chicken breast will usually cook in about 20 minutes (ish)

I'm over 3 years late but I have a question. Would walnuts work in this sauce as well? I've got loads of walnuts to spare and a big family meeting coming up.

I love how there always seems to be a disproportionate amount of cutlery when they put it back on the empty plate for the end shot haha.
