Jose Vega is a lead supervisor for Castlevania on Netflix. He-s joined us in this video to teach you about how he uses 3D to speed up making background paintings! If you want a job in the animation industry, learning these techniques will greatly speed up your process so you can knock out more paintings in less time for the project you-re working on. This is the 1st day of the 12 days of Proko shaqaayeq: Hey! I'm an architect. Today I was searching whether digital painting can help me present my design better or not and whether it can be a subsection for rendering using architecture software. Out of the blue, you posted this video and here I have this question: what software is being used in the video? And would you think it is strong enough for architectural modeling?

FYI I didn't watch any of this, only read the title. When you dreamed of being an artist did it ever involve a 3D rendering engine -speeding up the process-? That's like trying to speed up your auto-asphyxiation nut. You didn't save time, you just lost a few more fleeting moments of joy in this sorrow ridden helscape called Earth.

-How pros who have to turn out dozens of pieces of a week save time, but you can justify not learning perspective by doing this one simple trick! -
Lately none of these little guest presentations have had particularly interesting final results.

A wee tech question. I-m planning to get a new imac for my birthday in couple months. How much of a high spec should my computer be to be able to do all these without major frustrations? Say i will be using photoshop and blender most of the time.

I have honed my 2 D art skills for the last 3 years and di not much 3D. I have basic knowledge but that's all. i am already 29 and really afraid that I start too late incorporating 3D in my workflow. v_v
Great advice nonetheless! :)

All this has shown me is how obsolete 2d concept art is. especially with this generic medieval stuff. For characters, just buy some knights from turbosquid and be done with it. It's just for concept anyways

These are pretty good suggestions but it's a slippery slope; know the strengths of 3D and when to apply them. You don't always want your paintings and animations to look '3D'.

My mentor told me to start practicing 3d modeling and oh my god. This is a world I did not expect to get into. But going to get Zbrush and start learning!

Exactly what I had been looking for. Just one question: Would a new Mac Book Pro be enough for handling blender or would I need a tower PC?

This video is so helpful. I am a highschool freshman and I really want to go into a career for concept art. Thank you so much!
