Fiddle Leaf Fig Care Tips Garden Answer Diane: Weve had the same fiddle leaf fig since the late 1960s that has moved with us from TX>WI>VA>VT>NY>NC. I hope it remains a North Carolinian for the rest of my life! Throughout its +50-year life, its done very well through being cut back almost to soil level (for rides in moving vans or in times of stress - as when boy across the street ca. 1970 attacked the leaves with his new pocket knife) and seems to thrive being pot-bound. Weve taken numerous cuttings for family members over the years who have wanted their own to nurture. Its certainly tolerant of the range of conditions and treatment weve thrown at it and is very much a member of our family!

One out of three of my new fiddles I got two weeks ago is growing very slowly, tiny leaves with slightly brown tips and edema, one of the new leaves just stopped growing at about an inch for a week and just fell off, a new small one is coming in but very slowly and might have the same problem. The other two are growing large healthy new leaves. Do you know what is wrong? The other leaves on it seem fine and not browning or drooping or dying. If they all the new leaves at the top die is there any way the top will get back to growing healthy larger leaves? What should I do?

Im new to plants and Im getting sad bc I seem to not bring life to them. I bought my sister in laws fiddle leaf. I cleaned her, wiped a little
Coconut oil for shine- then something happened where she started getting brown spots around the edge of the leaf. I spoke to someone at my local nursery. Showed her a leaf and pictures. She looks ok now but some of the leaves still have the brown and One now looks like shes yellowing. I cant figure out what Im doing wrong (I think its the watering): (
But I do enjoy ur videos and Im learning a lot.

Hi Laura, just bought a dwarf fiddle leaf fig but it will need to be repotted soon. Can you please let me know which soil is best for that plant. Is regular potting mix alright. I also hear to always put half potting mix and half cactus mix for tropical plants. All so very confusing in the end. I only have access to commercial potting mixes. What should i use?

I'm concerned about my fiddle. Roots are wrapping around the top surface of the soil in the pot. I took it out of the container but it isn't root bound inside. It's on my patio for the summer and dries out fast on top. Would you transplant it to a larger pot now, despite it being late July? Or should I wait until next spring? Thank you and love your vids!

Omg that plant was growing out the side of my moms home. And i really thought it looks so strangely ornamental. We actually had it grow twice back and cut it both times. I never knew this was an ornamental plant omg. Ill look to see if it grows back again. We did absolutely nothing to, it grew between some concrete blocks in the side of my moms house.

I have three cuttings from a huge figgy that Im water propping. They started off great, but now they seem stuck in the popcorn stage with white bumps on the stems but no roots. Its been 5+ weeks. Leaves are still green and strong, but Im wondering if I should move them to soil or just keep waiting for roots. Any thoughts? BTW, thanks for your great content!

My fig has what I think is a black fungus and it's very aggressive. This is my first time owning a fig and I'm not sure what's the best way to combat the disease. Does anyone has any suggestions? I saw a videos of a home remedy that consists of Baking soda, vegetable oil, and Eco friendly dish soap and have been spraying this onto the plant.

I have two Fiddles started small and now I cut back at least 6 feet of growth a year, if not more. West windows with mini blinds upturned! They grow FAST! and when the leaves naturally fall off it kinda scares you! Just a PLOP! Love them I just water them whenever! I think most people BABY their plants way to much! Love these vids!

I feel like a troll for busting your chops but why would you plant this where it frosts? Seriously wouldn't any frost kill it even if its had a summer to acclimate? Seriously dont plant this plant where frost or freezing may possibly happen. I'd say central Florida may be too cold considering they may have a frost once a year?
