Pallet Walkway EASY DIY PROJECT! Garden Answer Katherine: This is the 4th time I've watched the installation of your pallet walkway just because I like the before and after look. I will be doing the same to the narrow-shaded side of my home, but I also want to incorporate some full shade plants (hostas & others with color) I seem to fall in love with all of your projects and now I can sort out which ones might work for me. Thanks Laura!
ps Favorite Videos: are areas with nothing growing or poorly growing then you pull out the grubby mess and suggest some bare bones winter evergreens and then build up to year round interest, even if it takes a full year to show us. Your South garden is a prime example of 'building' something from nothing but many of us would appreciate you again helping a friend with something on a smaller scale with very small yards but who also want an interesting / peaceful / quaint entrance (like your in-laws place) Again, Thank You LeBoutillier's: D
Happy 2022, Love seeing little Samantha running around & the recent 'Benjamin' tree: )

While I like this idea and your efforts and results, I'm wondering about rot and termites. Wondering if treating the boards would be a good idea, or if the wood and energy put into it are not such a good idea. Researching. Of course for every opinion there is also the opposite. Saw this. Do pallet beds attract bugs?
They frequently come into contact with water, insects, mold, animal droppings, and more. Because the wood isn't finished, it can absorb these contaminants. Even more seriously, wooden pallets are often treated with harsh chemicals to make them more resistant to moisture and insects. Dec 30, 2019

I love her videos. Im starting to attempt more gardening and she is so beautiful, good natured, independent and very knowledgeable regarding plants/flowers, veggies, building, etc. I have to admit, the entire time I'm watching this I'm just thinking about how anyone can afford all of these plants. Their property is gorgeous and their home. Super cool!

LOVE this! It does look whimsical and inviting. But, are those pieces of lumber treated with something? If you put down untreated wood directly onto the dirt it will surely break down esp. with termites. We learned this from experience. Now it's about three years later and how are they holding up? Please let us know. Blessings to you.

Thank you so much. I love this idea. What a perfect, highly affordable solution for a timber path. I'm definitely going to try this. We have stacks of free pallets in our home town - the big warehouses put them outside their yards for folks to collect. Kind regards from Australia

We tried this pallet walkway and unfortunately it was a fail. The pegs you need to secure the wood were expensive and the walkway only lasted a few months then the wood started cracking. It looks pretty but isn't a great idea if you actually use it to walk on.

Hello Laura, Thanks for this great video. I'm wondering how did the wooden planks survive winter/summer, et al? I am in MN so I need a product that can withstand the cold, wet, heat, etc. I see you made this video in 2018, do you still have the pallet path?

You're an absolute pleasure to watch. This is a great idea for a little garden project. In my experience, it's difficult to get the nails out of the pallets, so using your sawsall is a great idea.

Neat, I have a small pathway where I wanted a walkway and this Totally fits the bill. Someone is always giving away pallets free near my place. So I'll just buy some landscaping pins.
