Harvesting Sweet Potatoes! Garden Answer handmade: Nice harvest, Laura! I'm dying to harvest mine, which are right at the 120-day mark, but we've had so much rain here in North Texas. I hope they haven't split I planted a total of about 45 slips, some in pots, same varieties, Diana and Covington. The vines still look beautiful, but they've taken over our pathway from the house to the driveway and my husband's had just about enough of that. Today was sunny and beautiful but the ground is saturated, so I'm waiting until Friday. Our soil is hard, too, but your harvest is encouraging. Can't wait! Lisa

I truly love these videos. I especially love when you do Harvest on fruits and Veggies. My goal is to grow. I have been following you for sometime and you and Aaron and your family truly inspire me. I thank you so much for this knowledge. It's crazy as a mom of 3 and my husband they are the only family I have. I have lost everyone but strangely your videos give me that distance family feel. So I thank you so much!

They look fantastic!
Did you get your slips at the nursery?
I live in California and finding sweet potatoes for planting is almost non existent. Will try starting my own.
Ive also been told that growing them in Mount Shasta is darn near impossible. We are zone 7b and I see you are zone 6a. Now Im even more motivated to grow my own!
Any suggestions or secrets you can offer?

Oh wow, great harvest! I love the color on the Diane. I recently harvested my potatoes and this was a beautiful harvest year for my raised beds too. One way I fluffed my soil was to add sand to the garden bed. I can't remember who suggested it, may have been the Old Alabama Gardener, anyway it really worked for me. Congratulations on growing beautiful sweet potatoes.

The Diannes look great! I would like to say that mice will eat some of your harvest if they can get in your green house. I dont know if they are a problem where you live but Ive heard several people complaining about mice in their great houses/high tunnels and destroying their produce. Congrats on your harvest.

What are Felco's?
By the way. so glad I found you on you tube. love watching your videos. I don't have a green thumb but have purchased some succulents to go with my aloe plant, which is looking a lot better after being inspired by yourself to be more interested.

I live about 30 miles east of you in Idaho. Ive only grown sweet potatoes once, in a trench in the ground. They didnt grow well because of the clay soil, I guess. I want to try again in a raised bed. It sounds like a better idea. Congratulations on a great harvest!

You guys will be eating sweet potatoes for the next year! So awesome! I'm building raised beds over winter in preparation for spring! Your garden inspired me so much, but I already had my garden going! Thanks so much for all the great videos!

Thank you for giving us tips on growing sweet potatoes, I had no idea they needed to cure. Just wanted to say, who in the world is giving your videos a thumbs down? You are a joy to watch Laura and I love your sweet family.

With all the greens removed, and the crop harvested, is there still a sweet potato plant left in the bed? Will it still grow leaves and another crop? Or you need to replant seeds, slips
again or something?
