How to Winterize Your Fountain Garden Answer Mama: my flowers have done so well this year, and I am getting sad knowing we are getting our first freeze this Friday, and my flowers will probably be no more. I wish I had a sun room or some way to bring some of them in to enjoy over the winter, I know how you feel about having to cover up the fountain- can you imagine what Heaven will look like, the flowers, the fountains the trees, it is going to be amazing! nothing will freeze and we won't have to cover anything thing up.

I have three bird baths, but have been wanting a fountain for the song birds. it will be my next big purchase when I find the perfect one. They will love it and I will love watching them and listening to the water! I'm such a water baby. I even zone out just watering my plants! lol! Laura, you have said before you have very hard water. is there anything you do to deal with that where your fountain is concerned? We have lots of calcium and lime.

I was looking for instruction on how to determine the right size of cover. I do wish you'd gone over that. I may sound dumb, but the details I found use pie to determine and I'm sorry, I'm just not that savvy. Maybe the maker of your cover will have directions. I'll look for that. EDIT: all the links do not work for the fountain cover company. I see comments are 3 years old, no date on the video for some reason. Are they out of business?

Great-looking cover. I agree that I would love to see the fountain during the winter months, but they're too expensive to have something happen to them, and they must be taken care of correctly. I've had an antique crock crack during the winter because water/snow accumulated in the bottom and while I don't have fountains, I do have bird baths. Should they also be covered or removed? Love that Russell was helping!

Thankyou Laura for showing this. We just got our fountain up in time for fall! lol but have been concerned about how to properly winterize it. Hubby already has it wrapped up and waiting for spring but I think we'll be looking for a proper cover for next year! I have waited so long for this fountain and hate having to wait through winter. Thanks again.

Laura, you goofball, you sounded emotional when speaking about not seeing the fountain for several months. You'll be glad you covered it though. I just put away some of my larger containers in my shed. I had considered wrapping them up and leaving outside. I'm glad I took the effort. They are too pretty to lose.

Thanks so much for the video on winterizing fountains. We have a much smaller fountain from a different company but some of your suggestions would apply to ours as well. I loved looking at the henri studio catalog and saw several garden centers in our area that carry them. I will certainly seek them out.

Oh this is so great! Even though I live in California in an area that doesnt really freeze l lost a cascade fountain when on of the bowls cracked and then a piece of the pedestal. I miss the sounds of the fountain.

I did not know about Henri fountains and there is a retailer who carries his products within 20 miles of me so I know I'll be taking a trip shortly, maybe at the end of winter! Love these concrete pieces!

I love your fountain, it's a shame you have to cover it over winter, but I can understand why you have! In Australia we don't have very severe winters, so we can enjoy our water features all year.
