Prepping My Planters for Christmas- Part 1!
video description
We removed two trees from ours last spring and wow what a difference it has done for our yard, I can finally grow stuff in that area! The city came and cut down a few problem trees on their side too, one of which was a huge tree that was literally growing in our fence, our fence that is being replaced. Them doing that has changed so much too, I can finally do stuff in that lower part of the yard! I have always wanted to grow veggies down there but never could cause of all the trees.
We have a small yard and the amount of trees was and still is a huge problem, hoping this spring to take down the two pine trees that are dying and maybe have them remove the stumps from the trees growing against our fence that our neighbor helped me cut down years ago, all of that is interfering with our ability to replace the rotten fence. We have the rails and posts for a new one, just need help putting it up and getting rid of the stumps! I have my eye on a couple smaller growing trees that will fit out yard better, I am hoping to get those this year, I want trees, we need them, our yard gets hit with full afternoon sun, but I want them planted in places that make sense and won't interfere with the house, like the two we cut down last spring, they were half dead and if a storm had taken them, they would have dropped on our house.
We have some that need to go in the front yard too, three of them, all growing close to the house, huge trees that should have never been planted there.

Never thought of going in the woods and getting clippings to put in containers. Oh wow, I'm learning so much. Can't wait for next year. It's January here now and a little late to put up something now. Your tutorials are so informative. Also, I do the same thing as far as removing something from my landscaping. If it looks bad, scrappy, or I just don't like it, it's out of here. lol I like a tailored look in my yard. The people that owned the house before us liked a wild look. I have slowly changed every thing. I gave a lot of the stuff to neighbors and they thought I was nuts in the beginning. Now they slow down and look at our pretty yard. They are always asking me what plant that is planted over there and then I see it in their yard. lol

Happy November Laura. I know you have a wonderful cat, we can't have any animals as my hubs is Allergic to anything with fur. We have planters and pots in our garden. Went out this morning and cat poo. i had to get our Grandsons nappy sacks to clean it out. I love cat and dogs, but i hate the poo. Do any of you guys know of a good product we can put down to stop them, we have put little wooden sticks in. We have 500 bulbs all packed up for the winter with grit and sticks sticking out to stop the cats. Any help would be great. x

This is an awesome display, I can't wait to see it all completed! You absolutely amaze me with what you do and your knowledge. You have a beautiful home and grounds and something so many just dream of. Beautiful and you both take such good care and concern with it all. Just lovely and so very amazing. I love a home that is loved and it then exudes love within also.
Thank you for all you do and how much you share of your knowledge. Loving my views of your videos.

I think its perfect and beautiful! I use solar fairy lights on the bottom half of my palm tree all year round since I dont have solars lights that you put in the ground. My neighbors always tell me that my palm trees look nice. Im the only one that does this. My neighbors across the street told me they did that to their palm trees in their backyard. I dont mind when people copy me. I think of it as, they must like my style of decorating my frontyard.

Oh! No! I need the next video! I have a ginormous cement urn that Im going to change up this year. I ordered the wire fairy lights and am ready to tear out the dead mums. Im heading out to the woods and sort through my pile of prunings for tall straight branches. Ill probably use greenery from my old Southern Magnolia trees, 80 year old boxwood hedge clippings and some Cyprus and pine boughs for the base. I cant wait to see your part 2!

I think that people are crazy for saying things about you removing trees from your garden! You do you! I want to cut a few palm trees down in my front yard and I am getting so much negative feed back from my parents. I haven't cut them down yet but the more I look at them the more I dislike them. I find all your videos super inspiring. I love seeing all your ideas once you've put them together. Keep up the beautiful work! Vanessa

Love watching your videos. I learn so much from every video. :-)
I also really appreciate how you guys love Russell so much - he's part of the family, and you treat him like he is. That little clip you zoomed in on and replayed, oh my I laughed! It shows how much you love and respect life (even the pulling out of trees so as not to use chemicals) no matter what type of organism that life is. :-)

They look so amazing I can't wait to see the end result including Arons lights.
I must admit though, you scared me with your introduction, waving that saw blade around so close to your face and head made me wonder if you were doing a Halloween video and then I remembered you dont like anything scary (neither do i) but it was close, lol, paticularly toward the end of the intro

Giiiiirrrrrllll. you were not using one of your good towels on those planters, were you? btw, why batteries don't work as well when it's cold outside (from your resident chemistry teacher): inside the batteries, there's a chemical reaction occurring, and many reactions require heat to happen, or at least, to happen better. If there's less heat, the reaction rate is decreased.
