I'm in April 2022. Even with unusual frost times - the point it to wait until all danger of frost is gone?
I only have one large specimen boxwood in front of what I'm trying to make a Zen garden. Mistakenly allowed someone who knew more than me at the time to remove a suitable little red maple.
In any case; Boxwood, and Thuga Arborvitae (came with the house) l - wait until we things stable out? I'm in N. Seattle. Zone 8. But the weather is all over the place! Thanks to you and your loved ones for all that you do!

This sounds terrible, but I bought too many box woods one year. I kept putting off returning it, and eventually lost the receipt. It sat in my driveway, with an exposed root ball(just a bit of dirt caked in the root, for 2 YEARS, and stayed ALIVE. I live in a 5a zone. We get horrible winters, as you probably experience as well. This summer I made a new garden JUST for the little plant that could.

Can you use that tool for a circle/ball shape? I just bought two Eugenia topiaries, and me and my boyfriend were wondering how were going to trim them and help them keep their shape. Any suggestions?
Edit: OK never mind! I shouldve watched the whole video before I made a comment, LOL! I just saw you using that tool to do a ball shape on your Boxwoods

Ive always heard that you need to get down in the center and take out some growth to let air in there? Maybe thats just here in the south? Loved watching this - going to get out and do mine - have lots in a small courtyard - helpful to see the drop cloths. with the stay at home order this year, a good time to clean up the garden! All best wishes

So grateful I found you! I am a huge boxwood fan, love topiaries, and loved your tips and tricks on trimming. I have been a little intimidated to underplant my boxwoods because of the mess the trimmings leave behind. You have inspired me to new heights. Thank you! PS. what product do you use to treat blight or other boxwood infestations?

You should see how wild orchids (masses of them) grow in people's fields but most of these people have no idea that they are orchids. Sometimes scientists come from other countries and visit these fields.
I know their names as I have been studying them and have photographed them too.

I just pruned my boxwoods too early. If I cover them with Agribon (floating row cover) will they make it? I'm in northern Idaho zone 5. They are winter gem boxwoods. It is supposed to be 29 degrees tonight and then mid 30's for the next 10 nights.
