Spring Fertilizing! Garden Answer Laura: I wish I had seen this video when it was first published! Last fall I had 20-yr-old overgrown bushes removed from the front of my house and a new garden with lots of flowering plants put in. It was beautiful, but I did not get good instruction on fertilizing and applied a different product right at the base, burning many of the plants! I'm hoping that more plants do not die than already did. I'm in the middle of trying to replace the dead plants and want to be sure I do it RIGHT next time! I will start looking for the Espoma product. Thank you!

3 cups of fertilizer! YIKES! If you leave the leaves, and throw on some compost you should never have to add commercial fertilizer. I've been gardening for 30 years and have never needed to buy fertilizer for shrubs, trees or perennials. only need plant food for annuals. If however you have surrounded your plants with landscape plastic and rock mulch, then you might have to because there is nothing in the soil to feed the plant.

Sooo my dad has a whole bunch of plant food, like, a giant potato sack of this blue crystal powder thats dissolves in water. And i kind of want to use it and get rid of it so i can switch to a different fertilizer, but also because i feel like Im watering my plants with blue Gatorade haha

I need help! Im new to this. I bought annuals for my mother and they were beautiful. I decided to add an all purpose fertilizer for plants and dont know about measurements so I added a teaspoon to all potted plants and theyre all dying now. How can I save them?

Thank you for your video. so simple. you use friendly terms as well. Very helpful. I think I see mulch on your ground, do you place the fertilizer on top of the mulch or do you move it out of the so the soil is exposed before you place the fertilizer? thankyou

I did use these last year and did notice the smell. I only used around the front of the house. But Im concerned about using around my dog in the backyard. He like to eat bagged compost and afraid this smell also might attack him. Any advice?

I just made my biggest mistake, I added plant tone to my indoor container plants yes, I have three plants that died and others that are dying. Yes, I put a lot of fertilizer on them. Yes, I learned my lesson and I am never doing that again.

I find fertilizing so sanctifying! lol Encouraging them to do well. Loved the video. I am trying Rosetone on my hydrangeas this year! Espoma. I hope PW and Espoma know how much we use their products now that we've seen your examples!

This video might be too old to ask about but going to try anyway. if Im using a water soluble fertilizer weekly, why do I need one of these tones too? Can it be either/or? Whats the benefit of these fertilizers vs weekly fertilizing?
