Spring Planting, Ant Control & Veggie Garden Update! Garden Answer Nancy: I don't know if anyone will see this but i have a question about lilacs. Has anyone else noticed that the exact same bush/tree can have the intensity of perfume stronger some and weaker others?
Wouldn't it be funny as a practical joke to Laura to have someone sneak in to the gardens and plant roque red tulips and other plants. She would be buzzing around like the busy bee and she will think she is losing it. anywho i had that thought.

So glad to hear how you treat ants. We have a koi pond and the ants around it are crazy. Their hills are killing all my plants! We have been reluctant to do much to treat these areas because of possible run off into the pond. Do you this this would be safe for us to use? Love these videos. I have learned so much and really enjoy seeing Benjamin and your kitties! Thank you for all the time you put into these. Worth every second.

Those are pavement ants, Tetramorium immigrans or T. tsushimae (they look identical. They love full sun settings and thrive especially well where there are stone structures. They love heat and incubate their brood under rocks and sometimes logs but only in sunny locations. Both are invasive species in the US but not that bad honestly, they just displace other ant species that normally nest in those situations.

I dont know what happened to my question from a few days ago, maybe I deleted it by mistake, dont know. Im 56 and not very good at all this. But if I messed up here I go again. Thanks for adding the peony video, as I was afraid of what effect the ants crawling all over mine would have. Now thanks to you I know theyre fine. I cant garden as much as I would like to but you inspire me to do what I can. Thank you

I actually had tulips. And another flowering bulb planted which never really did well, and I had moved
, but came back and forgetting about the bulbs I planted an herb garden in that bed so its kinda cool how tulips & other flower I can't remember name, pop up through my thyme. The flower is tall & flower bells drop down, you'll probably know what it is.

We love our Rachio! Its helpful when repairing or installing new sprinkler heads, drip system or adjusting them. Or if you need to shut off the system from your bed. Haha. Your planters are so pretty and nice yummy garden. Thanks for all your videos they are awesome! Your son is adorable!

I didnt realize you can bury tomatoes below the ground like you did. Thanks for that tip. Love the tulips in bunches too. More impactful that way! Can you plant the lettuce lower like you can the tomatoes to keep them more upright?

The baskets with fiber liner want keep soil nutritions. I always line them first with newspaper to avoid to fast drainage and this keep plants or herbs moist. That way also nutritious stay in the soil.

Did you and Aaron check out the Rainbird Controller System when deciding on Rachio? Just wondering your reasons for selecting Rachio that made it hands above the rest. Thanks
reply

Rainbird makes a good wireless irrigation control system. I like it because you can run it from the app or manually from the unit. I don't think raccio can be used manually.
