I have Sun & Substance hostas which I love. Another favourite which blooms early is lungwort. I love its spotted leaves. Thanks for this awesome video. The lessons on how to layer are so important. I made the mistake of buying a plant that I love and then would find a sun or shade spot and plunk it in, instead of focussing on layering and the colour/texture/evergreen elements of plants. So I have a lot of moving of plants to do.

I planted 3 empress wu hosta a few hears ago. They came in very small 3. 5 pots so it's going to take a few more years still before they mature to full size plants. Your plants already look really large so you will have a great display in no time. Love the plants you put in today, nothing really showy- like flowers, but great combination of color, texture, and form.

I love Hosta, and I have one area in my yard for one, and it gets huge, so I'm wondering if it's not one of those Empress or one that is known to get that large. I also love Heuchera's thanks to you, watching you plant is so calming for me and I look forward to each and every video as the weather gets better and better. Thank you again, you are such an inspiration.

WTG Lauren! Just beautiful garden!
Is the soil in this bed all potting soil and mulch or did you also add yard dirt to potting soil, then mulch?
Which mulch is your favorite?
Also, I'd like to know which amendments you added to your soil before planting?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world.
Peace and Love

It seems most of the plants you feature top out at a zone 9. You frequently talk about colder zones. Could you please mention when a plant might do okay in one or two zones higher than specified? A lot of us in zone 10b have microclimates where it can be cooler. But no one wants to take a chance on expensive plants if they will not thrive.

In years past my garden was quite shady, due to very large oak trees on the property. Over the years weve lost them one by one. now we have a much sunnier yard, both in front and back, and Ive had to adapt to these major changes. Either sun or shade has its rewards and challenges, and keeps this gardener engaged!

I love and have all the plants you featured but one. I want the white foxglove so much and noticed you have them in shade. My house faces north but I have 3 forty ft. Live oaks with morning sun. Can they grow under the trees. I have peonies on the east side and they get some sun in the morning?

I love hostas. Those are some monstrous plant starts. I usually have to buy the smaller ones and just wait for them to get that big which can take years. Empress Wu is a very large variety. Those will fill in nicely! I want to get some Hakonechloa this year.

Great Combo of plants for the shade. I have taken notes, as usual to carry off to my local nursery. I was wondering what the small tree is just to your left. It is tucked in between two real trees. Hoping to keep watching for more inspiration. Thank you!
