New Concrete, Planting Flowers, & Baiting For Bugs! Garden Answer Lolo: The yard looks A M A Z I N G! You think you're getting rain. It's not looking good for the Midwest aka the Bread Basket of the country to get in any crops. Abnormally COLD/below average temps don't help to warm up the ground & because we can't go more than 2 or 3 days without rain, the ground won't dry out enough for farmers to get in the field. The Mississippi is still at major flood stage so no barge traffic is moving. Those benches are GORGEOUS!
Do you have any old Windows still contains glass? You could put that over the basil at night & create a cold frame. milk jugs work too but not as pretty.
Side note: something is eating my Hardy Hibiscus plant leaves! (I over winter them in my basement because they take forever to come up in spring)

Those pots and benches are absolutely beautiful. I love the choice of plants you put into each of the pots, they turned out so gorgeous. I just love how adorable Russell is, when you call him he comes running, and just loves the cat rubs, I just love seeing his mittens they are so cute, he is just such a beautiful cat. Thank you for the tips on keeping pests out of your garden, and it should be interesting how much Russell doesn't like that repellent, lol. It has been raining here in Idaho for the last 4 days, which frustrates me because I can't work in my yard, and it's suppose to rain most of next week, Ugh! Well, have a great weekend, and I will see you soon. Bye for now.

Your property is so gorgeous! And you are so pretty! Would love to see what the inside of your house looks like; it is so beautiful. Question: No plants on the balcony hanging over or on the porch? I mean, annuals. color? Would love to see that. love your knowledge. I don't know what to put under the eaves of my porch out front as shrub. What plants are hardy in the shade with some color? Agapnthus? Lily of the nily. kind of tired of them. I have hydrngeas blooming right now. I live at the beach in So. Calif

Re: cat doors: If Russell will tolerate wearing a collar, there's a cat/small dog door you can get where the door has a sensor and you put a fob on the collar and it will only open for him. A friend of mine has one for her chihuahas and she loves it; of course, when the batteries die or if the fob falls off the collar, that's a problem.
I think there's supposed to be one that recognizes a pet's microchip as well, so that might be another option.

I love that Lemony Lace Plant. It's a striking color. I really like the two-toned colors in the amethyst flowers. At first, I thought they were mini hydrangeas until your camera gave us a close-up pic. of them. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower-bush. At last roses are incredible with beautiful brilliant peach colors running through each petal. The Teucrium is so beautiful blooming next to the roses.

I use to have slugs eat my Hostas every year but since I've put bird feeders up no more slugs problem!
We have doves and pigeons come too to eat fallen seed. I have American Goldfinch, Housefinch,
Robin's sparrows, just all kinds of birds come to the feeders and help control the bug situation.
Love your videos Laura!

Gorgeous, as always. You are getting our rain. been wondering where it got to. Sparta NC usually has more rain than Seattle. but we are dry as a bone! I don't think I ever noticed the basketball courts with night time lights before(10: 15) Maybe plant a Lady Banksia on that nearest goal post. Haha

We have a cat door and it works great. We had one cat stray in once. It saw me and ran back out. There are also some that you can put a collar on your cat and it will trigger the door to open (unlock) only for your cat. Hope this helps you some. Check with your vet or a good pet store.

Everything is so lovely! I cannot wait for the new verbena to become available! Im in Texas zone 9A and choices are not as plentiful as what you have and we also are faced with deer. I get very excited for new bloomers that can take the heat! Come on Proven Winners Im cheering you on!

Laura, there is a brand of cat door in Australia that will not open if the microchip in the cat's neck (that we have to have over here) is not the one/s programmed into the cat door. I'm sure you would similar over there: -) Others also work off a chip in a collar.
