Splash Pad Containers: One Month Update! Garden Answer mary: QUESTION: Living in FL I was wondering how often the pots would need to be refilled and if the water becomes really hot after being in the sun? At some point it will begin raining down here and when it begins, it will rain every day. Would the water inside the pot become nasty if the plants didn't wick it up since they already had enough water? Gorgeous pots and so glad you included all the names of the plants. Great video and that 'cement park' looks like so much fun for kids.

Would it be in the township parks department budget to buy a 100 gallon tank and pump to install permanently at the splash pad (perhaps connected to a rain catch/barrel system) so watering and fertilization of the donated flower pots is easier? Seems like a good long term investment and I'm sure the beautiful plantings will help draw lots of families to the splash pad. Congratulations on the success of your project!

Laura my husband and I were just in Boise, Idaho and we drove to Ontario to see the nursery and hopefully run into you, Erin and Benjamin. Unfortunately we didnt see you but we viewed the nursery(amazing, the city pots you maintain and the splash pad. All wonderful for such a small city as Ontario. I recently purchased the Winecraft Black Smokebush so we will see how it does in my desert environment.

All of the containers are so beautiful, I was thinking the other day about them and wondering how they were doing and look, you had a video about them. It's hard to pick a favorite because I like so many of them, I do really like the purple fountain grass, and the purple and pink flowers are some of my favorites. Thank you for sharing this update. See you soon.

Wow, I can't believe how efficient those self-watering containers are! I'm kinda wondering when you're going to switch all the downtown pots to self watering, I know those pots were a huge investment but it would save you and the city from watering every other day. These planters are looking great, though!

I thought the one with the soft pinks and lavenders was my favorite until I saw that last one with all the red cannas, the vibrant colors, and how the red verbena was peaking out between the chartreuse sweet potato vine. just awesome! I always enjoy these container programs, to see what's possible.

Flowers are beautiful! I love the bright green of the sweet potato vine with the red & purples. They had a similar combo at my local water park. Has Benjamin played at the splash pad yet? It would be so cute to see him running around in the backyard while you show us the containers every month.

I have seen you use a pallet jack to move skids in your storage room. You could probably use it to take your fertilizer tank around the water park. you might need a wood frame to support the tongue though. Keep up the great work, you're amazing!

QUESTION. I have the true drip self watering container like the big ones you have. can I mix up soluble feed and put it in the resoviour? If so would you suggest to empty the container completely and refill with the fresh water with feed in it?

I LOVE to see these updates. And so interesting that you haven't done the weekly water soluble fertilizing so far -- I've been curious to see how the annuals you use frequently would do with only the slow release fertilizer. They look pretty great!
