Garden Maintenance Day Part 2! Garden Answer Cheryl: Lovely gardens, new plants & these tweaks. Saw a couple low growing mounds full of white flowers, shown near the end of the vid, & sure wish I knew what they are. Camera panned to the right, & they are at the end of that bed, in a small peninsula shaped area. Never showed them up close enough to even begin to know what leaf or flower shape to look for, & no idea if they're annuals or perennials.
Maybe one day you'll put together a map of the layouts in all those amazing beds! You come up with so many lovely combinations & I see new plants al the time! Loved those plants you put together in the newly painted black planter! HAd no idea how large it was until I saw how many plants fit in there!

Hi Laura! I love how your pot turned out and the additions you added to the bed and the plants you moved around. That area is really beautiful, like the rest of your areas. Don't be embarrassed about your shelving. At least everything is stored neatly. My goodness girl, you still have so many plants in your greenhouse! Do you have plans for planting all of them this year? You're such a hard worker and everything is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

For your newly planted (or replanted) topiaries, perhaps consider replacing the ugly green plastic strips that hold the plants to the support stake with raffia (no bows, just a strip of raffia wound around a few times and tied simply. Or, as they're going into your house to a very stable situation where they won't be bumped around, perhaps consider losing the support stakes altogether and letting all attention go to the cool plants?

I bought 2 of those same topiaries. I love them. I used them as a thriller in my outdoor containers and planted some annuals with them. I have them in full sun almost all day and theyre doing great. However, I live in a zone 4 in WI so it doesnt get as hot here as it does for you. Mid to upper 80s at most. I too was planning to bring them inside and put them in my kitchen window for the winter. I look forward to seeing how yours do.

Laura, I pot eugenias in urns on each side of my garage which get full sun all day. I plant super vista petunias around the edges and they are so beautiful. I do have to bring them in for the winter months, but they winter over fairly well if they are watered on occasion and don't get too cold. Pruning them is a breeze. By the way I live in zone 6 and highly recommend eugenias. and agree that topiaries are the best!

You're such an inspiration! Thanks for all your beautiful videos! I always thought rocks in the bottom of pots was the way to go but it's good to hear that you don't use rocks. Could be what is causing issues with some of my potted plants this year. Also I have no idea how you video tape with one hand and work with the other. Have you thought of using a go-pro?

I had great success with Eugenia topiaries (spelling) in S FL. Two were on the north side of our house and grew beautifully getting sun much of the day and two others were in the screened patio on the south side. The one inside the screen that had sun basically all day long did the best. Hope they perform well for you!

Looking for advice on getting rid of very invasive morning glory. The hubby and I came back from vacation and we cannot believe how they grew in a little over a week. We've been trying to keep up with them so they dont flower. but, it's like a blanket of morning glory all over our garden bed

I loved this video! learned so much about whats possible for plants that need to be rejuvenated mid-season. You have inspired me to keep up with the maintenance. Its so easy to do the planting but not so easy to get out there and keep things looking good. Thank you for the inspiration.

I've had Virginia creeper growing in my garden, had no idea what it was so thank you so much for this and your last video that highlighted it. I've been spraying and pulling those all year thinking it was a weed. I think I may let it grow along my fence and see how it turns out: -)
