I like keeping it simple and lo key given it's size and given it's location at the outside of your main property. It will make the amazing diversity inside your garden that much more and when heading in reverse, it will make the clean lines of the exterior a grand welcome. You make me laugh when you say I don't know why I didn't get to them, about another project. You have so much planted to tend already-- and it is relatively young which generally means more maintenance than not. I am much older, but I bit off a half acre garden with intensive labor needs and very young-- it takes all my time and I still am so far behind my imagination!

Laura I just found out that when you have high heat and dry soil that what you grow is awesome but we are moist soil and we have a lot of fog and wind off the sound which keeps our heat down to the 70's to 80's only in August for about 3 weeks and if we have Indian Summer we may get high 70' threw the first week of October. Purple Mountain Grass for one doesn't do well. Some of the Coleus are really just a nice house plant. I planted the Suppertuna Pillows in my hanging baskets, they will get 5 hrs of sun so hope they with look like yours in July. Love your Video's.

i just recently brought this golden willow tree at a great deal not knowing what I had actually brought. Just wanted a weeping willow to add a canopy for a chair on my patio. After researching online I realized that this tree grows 50-80 feet. Big mistake for me. But I just love the branches, I am going to keep it in a pot to maintain the size. I put string on the upward growing branches to pull them in a downward position hopefully this will work out.

Green and white like Monty Don's Writing Garden? Well I do love how he has named his separate gardens and plants them up with a very specific color scheme. I know whatever you pick will be beautiful! That's the hardest part of gardening for me - making a decision about exactly WHAT to plant in an empty space! So I wish you luck with your decision and can't wait to watch and see what you decide. :)

My local garden centers have certainly benefited from all you have inspired me to do! I say every year. Im cutting back. I like the calmness, serenity and simplicity of the formal green and white garden and would keep it that way. A nice change of pace from the abundance of the other gardens. Maybe add hydrangeas. Or a water feature. And seating to enjoy the views.

Laura, please can you tell me what preparation, if any, you did for the gravel driveway and other gravel areas, especially the vegetable garden? Your ground seems to be quite hard/firm so I am assuming you did not need to use a compactor before laying the gravel down. I would love to know what you did because I really need to do this at my home this summer.

I love how she came out. I have a small fountain I've wanted to give it a fresh coat of stain, but I need to make sure the water will be safe for birds. The fountain is a boy pouring a pitcher of water in the shell bottom I bought 2 years ago that I just love.
Is there a stain you would recommend for a fountain that would be safe for birds?

I love watching your videos. They are so calming and motivating. Im learning so much, I hope one day I can have a garden with so much beauty and interest. if I had the walkway I would love the feel of walking through a field of wildflowers, with butterflies and hummingbirds flying around. Just to take a very serene stroll

Watching a video my relaxing part of my day. I've learned a lot from you and started my own flower garden. I deadheaded and weeded the garden in the ten minutes I had before heading to work. I watched my mom garden my whole life and now I'm getting into it. Thank you for all the inspiration and education!
