Planting For Fall Harvest! Garden Answer seriously? : You can still extend your fall crop by protecting against frost with a heavy clear plastic tent over the plants. Acts as a mini greenhouse to trap wamth to protect at night. 3mil is available in large rolls at Home Depot and is REUSEABLE so the investment is for many years to come. Pound tall stakes on both ends of your bed screw an eye bolt into top of each stake string heavy twine or lightweight rope across to make a A-frame tent. drape plastic over and anchor sides with an occasional stone on the ground so it doesnt blow away. Cut shorter end caps to enclose ends and use binder clips to attach to tent. In the morning if you still get regular day time temps in the high 60s /70s unclip the peak at one end cap of the tent and fold it down half way then unclip one bottom corner of endcap on the OPPOSITE end of the tent and fold it back and clip it in place. This creates cross ventilation so it doesnt buildup too much heat and humidity during the day. To harvest flip up the side panel and clip up in place. When season over unclip the ends, fold up the plastic attach the clips to the bundle so you have them together and store it. I've used this method for 40yrs.

Always great info: ) you always, are it look so easy. I cant wait until next year to plant our garden. They are still cleaning fire debris from the lots around our home. I have a question for you my girlfriend has four or five hydrangeas and she wants to pull him because she doesnt like him I want to bring him up to my home here and we Gallia and we plant them do you think that they would survive being the middle of August? I guess just treat the soil really good with the bio tone and water really good? Thank you: )

Quick Question: I'm in Z-4b, our spring was nonexistent & summer has been cooler than normal that said; is it normal for newly planted lime light hydrangea plants to NOT set blooms the first year? I may have to move one as it's not getting enough Sun. I'm not as brave as you when it comes to thinning/pruning trees. If I had to pot it, should I store it in my basement where I keep my Hibiscus or in my unheated garage? Any Suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks for this reminder to plant for fall. We are still waiting in Northern Virginia (zone7a) for soil temps to cool down enough to plant lettuces, spinach and broccoli. Exceptionally hot both June and July here; no seeds I planted first week of July germinated. it was an experiment. AND. it's been too hot for tomatoes to mature. Who knew? When temps are consistently over 85, the plant cannot produce lycopene, so the fruit cannot ripen.

Hi Laura and Aaron! Great advice on planting for Fall harvest! I have some Oregon Sugar Pod seeds that I purchased from your parents nursery, but missed the early planting and wasn't sure when I could plant the second time. I will have to get them in pretty soon! Do you stake them once they come up? Thank you for sharing!

The first frost date is just about January 1st for us here in Zone 9b.
Many pumpkins take roughly 120 days to harvest so for my friends in this zone you can still plant them. Go for it: )
Laura what a beautiful garden I'm always in awe at how amazing it looks. You work so hard.

That's the second product placement I have seen, first one was the video where you were planting a straight narrow area I think it was hibiscus you were planting & off to the right you had placed a hose holder black from the same store.

I just planted zinnias last week and theyre cute little sprouts already. So fun! Love the idea of the vines above to make shaded garden for the greens in late summer! Thanks for another great video! (I cant plant seeds with gloves either! )

Hi Laura and Aaron,
I was wondering if you could do a video on garden edging and lawn edging. I'm redoing my front yard and really don't like most garden edging options and others that I do like are really expensive to have installed.
