How Much Do I Spend on My Garden? Garden Answer June: I DO know how much I spend on my gardens because I keep amazing records, including what succeeds, what fails, etc. BUT. you are right about investing in a hobby we love, and gardening is so therapeutic. When I retired 6 years ago we sold our RV and decided to let me indulge myself in gardening instead of being on the road so much. I used to sit at campsites and fantasize about how I would design the vegetation for them! Staying home and gardening has been so beneficial, and we consider it an investment in the beauty of our 'golden years'! The intense research and learning, about plants AND design, is keeping my mind busy. SO: Relax and Keep on Gardening! We love that you share your gardens with us.

Watched this today. (Sometimes I miss one)
You mentioned your walnut wreath.
I absolutely LOVE that wreath! When I watched you glue it all together, I was very inspired! I got some walnuts, and I started DRILLING a hole on the top on each side. Slipped a wire through, and twisted it. I am still working on it. Will be for a while, as, I will run out of nuts before it's done! I hope it looks half as good as yours! My front door is dark (Pumkin) orange, and cannot wait to see it finished! Thanks for the inspiration! I watch you just about every day! Love you guys!

My retirement plan is that I pretty much follow you! I became inspired with your garden and now I have a greenhouse ordered and I have built a raised garden that I am expanding this year. I'm learning by watching your videos. I would appreciate your sharing anything you can about setting up a greenhouse. I don't know anything and I am afraid I'll start a problem due to my ignorance. Mine is not like yours, but it is 12 x 14 and has the opening roof vents, etc. Any advice would be great.

Thats what I do, purely inspiration. I was, for a time trying to plant everything you planted but my husband is a police officer and on his off days he does not want to spend them planting so Ive had to regroup, but I still watch often for inspiration. We live near a beautiful and gigantic nursery called Green Acres and they have EVERYTHING! Im in Zone 9 so cant plant everything you showcase but there are some. Thanks Laura!

I don't think I've expressed how much I appreciate your videos. I've been watching consistently since starting my garden last year.
I usually just pick through the bits that can apply to my garden but often find myself admiring your little paradise
Thank you for the videos/help! The production is great and content is clear and direct.
The occasional drop in of cat(s) while you do your thing outside amuses me too.

LOL, Cheddar! Well done, kitty, on choosing your home! I had that happen once, but instead of a cat, a chicken moved into the space under our house. Next thing you know, we have a brand new chicken coop and all the trappings for her. Sometimes animals just choose you and you can only roll with it!

As for your bee situation: there are 2 possibilities. When bees outgrow their hive, they attempt to swarm. At this time, you need to put a screen frame on your hive to prevent the queen from leaving with her colony. The other possibility, one or more of your pesticides are killing the bees.

I don't feel so bad about questions I have asked about personal stuff after the question someone asked about how much u spend on your gardens. Maybe I just worded the questions wrong. It's all good as long as I did not offend u so I hope I haven't.

Lady, I dont know how you do it! We only have 1/3 of an acre and I do what I like to call the annual spring cry in the backyard from all the work that has to get done. My daughter is getting married in our yard next fall and Im already freaking out!
