You must have read my mind! Thank you for sharing the videos about adding winter interest to your yard and about birding. Two tidbits of information that I was wondering what you do! I write this as I gaze out to chickedees feeding at my feeder! Thanks sooooooo much! We would love to see a video about how you plan your garden in the spring (ordering seeds, what you suggest for seed catalogues(Canadian friendly eh! ) starting a basic inside seed starting with limited budget and space and all the other inspirational ideas you have! Thanks for being so generous with your special weekend in June - wish we werent soooo far away!

Hi Laura. The trick to using a funnel successfully with larger seed is use a straw, pencil, or skewer sized stick in tandem. Insert the stick into the narrowest part of the funnel when adding seed. It'll help with the flow and keep things moving through a small opening. Any clogs are easily pushed through with the stick. Thanks for all the useful know how and joy you provide as well as the impetus for people to spend more time outdoors and connect with nature which ultimately benefits every one of us.

I've been feeding the birds for over 30 years and so the word is out where to go. I get a great variety of birds that come, some stay, and others stop to eat as they are passing through on their migration.
Black Oil Sunflower seeds are the best for nutrition and have the highest level of oil compared to the white striped seeds.
The evergreen branches will give the birds some protection as well.

What do you do in the summer after all of the daffodils, hyacinths, and crocuses have died off? Are they buried deep enough to allow for a planting of annuals? I havent a lot of leftover daffodils, and I would love to pop them in our large concrete planters but I also want to be able to put something in the pots later after everything has died. Thank you so much to you and Aaron for these videos!

I agree with the others, I do love to hear the little stories, you never spend a long time on them and dont get too awfully personal, it is just like sharing with a close acquaintance at work etc and I enjoy it ever so much, We get it all, a little family time, a little sharing and alot of gardening! Please keep on. Oh, and share a pic of the coffee date!

I would so love to put out bird feeders but we have a problem with pigeons in my area and weve been asked not to feed them. So I rely on plants and shrubs that feed lots of bird varieties. Love your videos and watch them all. Im 77 years old and have learned so much from you. Am amazed at your knowledge. Thank you and dont stop teaching!

Do you have trouble with the squirrels raiding your feeders? You mentioned the harder shells to help. We do multiple types of seed to and have one feeder that is squirrel proof but they are there in that area year round even without feeders up. Any ideas how to combat them besides of harder shells?

I love birds and see them in my backyard often. I have always thought of feeding them but Im afraid Ill attract other animals like opossums (which for some strange reason Im afraid of) and rodents. How do you deal with attracting unwanted animals to your yard or is it a problem in your area?
