Oh my gosh this one was so timely for me! We are currently ripped up our backyard to fix infrastructure issues and I am currently researching irrigation systems. I've been trying to figure out how to break the zones where they make sense but also proper pressure! I would love to see how you have your valves done. My veggie area will have 4 12' beds, a 6' raspberry and a couple containers. I'd love to put it on a zone with pressure/filter at the valve with shutoffs at each bed. Is that similar to your set up? I'd hate to filter and pressure regulate at each bed. just seems clunky.

I just watched some of your videos from 2016. It is fun because I know what happens. Looking at all the plants and bushes you had to pull out! Ooh! and the beautiful way your vision has come to futurity( big word ) And of course I learned how to make bows and trim a tree with ribbon. Then the best is Benjamin. This being at home all the time, U tube has been fun. My granddaughter turns 14 tomorrow. They are coming to the deck so we can sing to her. I can't wait. Keep up making this place You and your little families, I will be watching, Joyce

Great info for when we eventually add irrigation/drip to our garden. I notice you keep the drip relatively close to the surface; I'm assuming for troubleshooting issues as they arise and keep track of where you have coverage. Is it advisable to bury the drip tubing 1-2 inches below surface to reduce chances of tripping over it when walking/working in the garden bed? Are there cons to this I'm not thinking of? And do you find yourself tripping on them often? I feel like I would be falling constantly due to my clumsy nature!

Are the Hunter Nodes compatible with the Rachio controller or do they work independently? Do I need both? I'm interested in going with an easier system rather than dealing with the complicated programming one I currently have. My gardener currently controls my programming and my water consumption has increased 800% over last year! I like the idea of using an app and want something I can easily program and turn off when it rains etc. I watched this video twice because it was so informative and because I love you guys!

Would you guys do a video on irrigation tubing? When you do the brown 18inch, when you do the soaker house, and when you do the tiny hose that goes to each plant root ball? And what situations you would do for each. I don't know if you do the brown only in flower beds, but then i also see sometimes you run each a personal tiny black tube in flower beds etc.
I know its winter now, but maybe something that would be that you could do inside just holding up the supplies.

Hi Laura. I would love to put in a drip system. Does the drip system use a lot of water. We only have one well and thats for the house. How would you attach a drip system to a well. We are one of the few houses around that doesn't run out of water when its an espicially rainless summer. We have two large plastic water containers that we collect rainwater in and I would love not to have to lug buckets of water to the plants.

It's 1: 30 in the morning here, and I have to not laugh out loud. At 4: 00, Laura says, I would just be out here with a hose. I was thinking the same thing! My husband is our tech guy, and he would have the patience to hook up all those parts and wires, but I would just be out there with a HOSE! I don't know why that tickles my funny bone, but it does.
You two are adorable. You are BOTH natural and gifted teachers.

Have you ever tried a blow torch? Just heat the tube with a few seconds of heat to soften and expand the plastic. When it cools it'll retract and create a nice tight seal. It makes it considerably easier to cram joints and couplers together. It saved me from some very sore fingers when setting up my own irrigation system! Love your videos, they do so much to brighten my day!

Hey! I was looking into your videos to get some new ideas for my garden and I noticed that you have a large new property! Have you considered doing a round of buckwheat or quinoa and turning it into the soil to get some good nutrients in? Its a lot easier than buying a ton of fertilizer and doing it twice will drastically change the nutrients in the soil for the better!
