Planting These Pots Required Power Tools! Garden Answer Debi: I stumbled on your videos a few weeks ago and have been binge watching them ever since. I just can't get enough. I love how utterly happy and enthusiastic you are with every project you do. Geraniums were one of my moms favorite plants and have now become one of mine. I have 2 questions tho. 1. Some of the blooms never seem to fully open on each stem. There are always a bunch of them at the base of the flower stalk that, even though they look healthy, never open. 2. On a different geranium plant when the blooms open up they are already wilted and dead. Help! What could be the problem? They are zonal geraniums, I have given them slow release fertilzer and I live in Sacramento 9b. Thanks a bunch!

What we do with the 6 emitter 1/4 tubing for my containers is use a barbed Tee, and make a closed circle with however many emitters I need for the container. So far its working well, Im on my second season and may need to redo my Bobo Hydrangea so it gets more water/has a longer circle, but Im really liking this way. Even did it for my fruit trees, used 12 1/4 tubing and did circles around them for 4gph from the emitters in the circle.

I am proud of you. I was thinking that you did not go too crazy with how many plants you put in the containers. I agree with the harmony of them all being the same will look amazing. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the container competition last summer and was looking forward to it this year. Bummer. I cannot grow geraniums well in South Carolina because of the humidity.

Love it! I got zonal geraniums yesterday and planted them in a part-shade area. They do get some afternoon sun under the trees but now I am questioning it because you planted them in full sun. Did I made a mistake? I know the tag said full sun but the lady at the nursery convinced me that they would work in a part shade situation.

Love the overhead, bird's eye view of planting the container! I think you came up with a lovely flower recipe, Laura. I agree with you that the variegated grass wouldn't be needed as a thriller. If it gets as big as the inserted pic, it will overshadow the geraniums and become the focal point instead of your charming combo recipe.

Any thoughts on Ralstonia solanacearum? Is that possibly why some varieties of geraniums are not available? I live in Michigan and just heard the news, after recently purchasing a bright pink geranium hanging basket. I'm a little worried right now. Also didn't know geraniums came from Guatemala. I thought the greenhouse grew them.

Im so surprised to see you use geraniums! But happily surprised- I love them and that coral pink is my favorite color. They do have a funny scent - but it reminds me of my mom who has always grown geraniums so I dont mind too much. I also dont tend to put my nose in them; )
Very lovely combination!

Lovely, I have had the good fortune to work in a greenhouse/nursery for a few years. I was responsible for the huge geranium house. It was a dream job, the array of color was amazing. geraniums are the most rewarding plant. It is nice to see you including them into your pots. they look beautiful.

Help. When you did the cocktail garden in the raised bed you used the biotin starter fertilizer. Now today your using the slow release fertilizer. Can you please explain the difference. I realize the cocktail garden was like a raised bed but still kinda like a flower/herb pot almost. Help!
