Planting a Hosta Garden! Garden Answer Vicki: Just a tip from a penny pincher: At the end of the season, scour your Home Depot, Lowes and the like for Hostas they are selling at a reduced price. By this time they are over growing the pots, sometimes look really bad but can usually be divided into several plants. One year I bought 5 containers, the leaves looked bad but the roots were healthy. I ended up with about 20 Hosta plants after dividing them and planting for lots of volume the following spring. This is how I started my Hosta garden and it's beautiful. I've also done this with day Lilys, saves so much money and you get to look forward to a beautiful spring.

hey, this just popped in my mind and i thought i should share it with you! have you ever thought about installing a water filtering system, maybe only for the greenhouse area? it could help with the very hard water and i think there are solutions that don't mess with the pressure. just an idea: ) maybe it's worth to install something now to preserve the plants for all the years to come.
and thanks for making awesome videos! :)

I was trolling for Hosta video's because I absolutely love them and came across this one. Has there been an update video showing the Hosta garden when it is more established? I live in the United Kingdom in a zone 9a. All my plants are pot grown as I don't have an actual garden but I've had my best Hosta's ever this year after standing the pots in trays that constantly hold at least 1inch of water.

This looks great! An instant hosta garden, I love it! I overlooked hostas for many years until I found out you could eat them! Now they're one of the most beautiful plants in my edible forest garden! I eat the shoots in the spring and the flowers in the summer! They always seem to come back strong after I pick them, and I've got a ton, so I don't think anyone notices the difference! :)

Gorgeous display! Hostas are my favorite plants. It's such a wonderful surprise to see them come up every year. I agree, they are a bold statement. We have lots of deer at this house and no fence yet, What can I do? Please show us a detailed video about dripline/watering system because I would like to do myself but don't know how.

Wow, hostas are beautiful. And such variation. I love how huge the leaves are. There are plants with huge leaves, about 3-4 times the size of your large hostas, here in Okinawa, Japan. Im not sure what the plant is. But its awesome! Im definitely adding hostas to my future garden planting list

Thanks for making a Hosta video. I have an area under a tree that I have worked hard to clear out weeds and trash. Now I want plant it and hostas are the way to go. Love this look and I think itll work great in that area. Im on the Gulf Coast in Texas, Zone 8. Tree shade helps these to grow.

I think it's great that you showed the hard water problem on your hostas. Now I know what that is in case it happens to me. Thank you!
BTW I have a hosta problem. I think n about 5 years my entire lawn will be covered in hostas. Thanks for feeding my addiction lol

Hey Laura! Can I use a drip emitter under the mulch or only the drip hose? I have it set up with emitters but having trouble keeping just the emitter portion above the mulch line. I have the emitter punched directly into the poly (maybe that was wrong.
