Our Downtown Planters Still Have Blooms in November!

Some people will say, what's the use, it's just decorative. But everyone can agree that it has a place. It improves the look. It draws people. It brings nature to an otherwise dreary, drab city area. It creates personal pride in your town and city. And I saw somewhere that beautifying an area can actually reduce crime (I think because of the pride correlation)

I would love this program in our downtown. Im a business owner on our main street and would love to add such a pretty, eye catching pots. The problem I have is there are only a couple of business that care about the facade of their business. I pick up trash on my walks to the bank and wonder why the business wouldnt care enough to do it themselves. Maybe I could plant one up outside of my store and see if it takes. Your videos are great.

Burns, Oregon did the same thing this past year after seeing your town plant project. They used a pink petunia and vinca vine. They turned out amazing and the community helped also. My family was the main start up point and I have sponsored one of the pots from a far since we did one as a memorial pot for my grandmother. Thank you for the inspiration to add color to another community and make their street corners beautiful.

I was going to comment the other day that you should do a video when planting them for fall but I figured you would have already transitioned them, I have never seen petunias looking that good in November, supertunias really are the way to go, very unfortunate they don't do them in Europe, I hope proven winners start to expand their business some time in the future, I would love to try them for myself

this was the most delightful downtown area! i was busy explaining to hubby what i'd learned from a prior video when we visited - i wish my neighbors would think this is a cute idea for our street! lol. (maybe some day. just beautiful - your downtown area is so quaint and these planters really just enhance the area so well.

The only time Ive found a use for false bottoms in a container is for clear terrariums because otherwise the soil gets really swampy but since theyre clear you can still see if it needs to dry out more or for the elderly why have a lot of trouble moving heavy pots

Thanks for the update! I love this project you started. What a huge commitment those 1st years! Such an inspiration. Do you have to preventively spray for budworms or other pests on theses? Or do they just only really get water and fertilizer?

I think possibly that all the concrete around them holds the heat of the sun during the night, and the buildings block the wind as well as trap the heat. You have a microcosm of milder weather at the pots locations.

My oldest son moved from Texas to Oregon to study martial arts, he found a job on a garden. He had been watering the hanging baskets of the city. His garden had that city contract. They are beautiful

I think it's a really lovely thing that you went to all this trouble, to spread more life and beauty into your town. I think it makes a bigger impact than you think, from mental health to community.
