Planting in My Parents Garden! Garden Answer Anna: I really liked what you said at the end about going to work in someone elses space, even just to pull weeds, does something for them AND for you. Id like to share with everyone in the comments about the Buy Nothing Project. Its a wonderful project of starting local groups of neighbors who want to give and receive and lend and help one another, no money or bartering needed, and no strings attached. Its all about giving, receiving, and gratitude. While folks give away all sorts of the normal stuff you might normally see resold, there is also a special set of gifting called gifts of self, gifts of time, and gifts of talent. Helping a neighbor with plants and gardening in their space could fit into any of those non-stuff gifts. And in addition, you can be able to give away (or ask for) supplies, seeds, plants you have pulled out or divided, extra seedlings, good soil or fertilizer, pots, extra food from a harvest, and even find neighbors lending their big stash of tools. If you think wow, how nice to go help in a friends garden for the day but dont know of anyone who has one or needs the help, join your local Buy Nothing Project and offer the gift of a set of hands in the garden to your neighbors!

Hi Laura, I was so excited to see another episode at your parents home. Their property is lovely.
I loved they way you switched the configuration of the cherry truffles heuchera, lobelia, and the Wheee! Hosta from two rows of soldiers into small groupings of each. What a simple change that made a huge difference. Im too much of a soldiers in a row girl myself. However, Im going to implement this suggestion. You are awesome!
BTW: How do you film an entire episode at your parents house without showing MORE of your mom? She is delightful! #moremomplease!

It was so nice of you to add plants to your parents garden. You have inspired me to get some serious gardening done which has been hard for me to do with the passing of my mom this past Christmas. There are two areas that are favorites, the way you reconfigured the hostas, heuchera, and the addition of the lobelia. The other area is where you placed the purple fountain grass. All very nicely done.

I notice heuchera and hosta are some of your go to plant pairings. Could you do a video on your favourite planting combinations that are perennial and give structure to a bed? I absolutely adore the many variations of heuchera but Ive ended up with a bed with only low level plants and stuck on what to combine with my lovely heuchera to give some height!

I just love seeing you & your Mom together, it's obvious where you get your pleasant disposition. I never had that with my own mother but I do have it with my only child and it's glorious. I saw the video with you both Antiquing in Boise May 2021 (Harley Chandelier: ) so I'm scanning for videos with Laura & Mom. Have a superb day and hug for your Mom too: )

At 15: 20, what is the bright green tall upright grass behind the hanging basket you planted?
P. S. I met your mom at her garden center a few weekends ago when I traveled from Salt Lake City, Utah with my mom and sister just to visit the garden center. They said I just missed you that morning. Wonderful staff. Beautiful place. I will be back!

Hi Laura! What a special thing you did for your parents! I'm sure they'll love looking at everything you planted along with all of their other beautiful plants. I love their garden! That Birch tree is absolutely beautiful! I'm glad you grouped the Hostas and Heucheras instead of planting them in rows. So much prettier. Thank you for sharing!

You've definitely got your mother's eye. I approve of the revised positioning of the heucheras and hostas. Now, that is a gorgeous combination. Always love seeing your childhood home and garden. Still smiling over Benjamin and his cousins petting the lions. Say hello to your mom and dad from me. Lisa

I have become obsessed with Heucheras after seeing the beautiful plants in your garden. The ones you chose for your parents garden were spectacular. Can they live long term in pots? Or do they have a limited life in pots? Loved this video!

I wish my daughters were as thoughtful as you are!
I LOVE your moms cherub birdbath the one she has plant the succulents in. Can you tell me where I can purchase one from? Also, What kind of succulents are in that bowl? Thank you Laura!
