Winter Sowing for 2021!
video description
I will definitely use this method again, but next time I'm going to cut the bottom out of the plastic jug, plant the seeds in place in the ground, and just use the jug over the seedlings in the ground to protect them until the are up and going. Sort of like a mini-greenhouse in place. And then all I have to do is take the jug off, rather than transplant seedlings. Should mention I'm in Columbus North Carolina zone 7B

Im trying to understand the benefits of doing this timing wise. Does doing this germinate the flowers quicker than if they were just sown outside in the normal soil? Would doing them inside under grow lights make them grow larger and quicker by the time you needed to put them in the ground? Would this be an in between option? Would love to know since Im going to be sowing flower seeds for the first time this winter.

It would be so useful if you were to put some kind of date stamp on your videos. It would be a great guide for us amateur gardeners on when to sow seeds or plant out our seedlings. Sometimes I come across your videos and have little or no idea what time of year you produced it. I love your programmes and enjoy listening to your voice. I live in the east of England and my zone is nine and a half.

I live in Ohio zone 6A and definitely get snow. Could I use these and put them on my deck against my house as protection or could the soil freeze? Ohio Winters are unpredictable but temps get below freezing at times, depending on how mild or harsh it turns out to be.
I imagine them being buried in snow on my deck. I'm a novice and have never tried this so any information is appreciated!

What's the best date to winter sow based on zones? I'm in zone 7a, NJ. I almost feel like it would take care of itself, and they'd grow whenever it's the right condition for them as spring warms up? I just don't want to start them too early. I think I'm trying to avoid them getting too mature and the weather outside not being ready for them to be transplanted, if that makes sense.

I want to thank you and Aaron for taking the time making all your great videos, of information.
One hint I have learned for plant ID tags, (I propagate plants and pot in 4 & 1 gallon pots) is using a PENCIL on a PLASTIC tag. Wooden plant stakes deteriorate in about 6 months here in western WA and using a pencil will stay on for years. Thank you guys again.

Love your videos! You never mention problem critters. In fact in your vegetable garden tour you stated you have no rabbit problem. Really? How do you get away with that! Also, in Iowa we have terrible Japanese beatles! You never mention those either. I had to pull out all of my roses because they destroyed every plant! What is your secret?

I would love help on conquering the issue of indoor bugs from soil when winter sowing. I am very new and I have been trying many things to get rid of the nats. Its almost made me though everything out. but I am really so excited to have things grow. And Also. what are you thoughts on using bug sprays on veggies?
