Pruning My Coralberry & Flower Bed Maintenance!
video description
Laura I know you have said in the past that you are jealous of gardeners who can have crepe myrtles in their zone. Well - that vase shape is exactly what a second story plant is. I think viewing a second story plant as a negative thing might lead to missing out on tree-training opportunities. Second story plant is equating to tree in my view. It seems to me like the butterfly bush blooms have that beautiful tendency to drape over and form that vase spray shape up top and if people were to prune the trunks as if they are multi-trunk crepes myrtles - this could really be another way to view the plant to have some wonderful focal pieces.

I wonder if birds eat the coral bell berries? I think its beautiful. If you have any 5 needle white pine dont ever plant currants. The leaves form a rust fungus and it spreads by wind to the tree. The disease is called White Pine Blister Rust. I was planning to put one in. But my next door neighbor has 3 currant bushes. She makes currant jelly. Before I ever by and invest in anything expensive I always research it first. Boy was I upset. Ive always wanted a white pine. We lost our beautiful ash due to the emerald ash boater and want to replace it with the pine.

I loved seeing you weeding! Your gardens always look pristine, save a stray weed here and there, so it was refreshing to see a little imperfection. Bermuda grass is a weed in my garden, too, and I feel like I'm pulling it constantly. I struggle to get on top of it. Actually, I'd love to see a video completely dedicated to controlling weeds. I've followed you for two years, thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge and inspiration!

Oh bless your heart. All that work to protect those seeds. I cant lie though, I laughed out loud when I saw the brick you towed all the way to the barn. We got that wind in Eastern Washington also and Im surrounded by Pine Trees that seem to like to fall on houses, cars, sheds and decks. I was kinda glad to see you take down your diseased pines. They are so tall and far reaching when they come down. Very scary in wind.

Ain't gonna lie. I feel your pain when nature turns around and bites you on the rear! Down to 22 degrees tonight in southern Indiana! I am also fighting tarps, buckets, etc as I try like crazy to save my plants and flower buds. Daffodils and blue bells putting on a beautiful show right now! Will they make it? I sure do hope so, but fear the worst. Crummy wind and cold --- GO AWAY!

I love this forgotten part of your garden! I really think it would be amazing to transform it into a hedged maze also planted with beautiful roses. How fantastic would it be for the kids to run around the maze on Easter egg hunts and other holiday activities or to come back here walk through the maze and read a book on some beautiful benches? I think it would be just stunning

How does Benjamin sit like that; lol! Question I noticed you said the sedum does not like fertilizer; but the other plant does; when you fertilize it and its so close to the plant that does not, how do you keep or prevent it from being fertilized when it soaks in the ground? Does it stay with a perimeter; and not spread to other areas? Sorry such a long question.

Most suspenseful ending to a Gardenanswer video ever! Will Laura win the tug of war with the desert wind? Will she be pulled aloft by billowing landscape fabric but keep filming to become the human drone footage taker? You keep your cool no matter what happens in the garden, my hat is off to you for not losing your ming with frustration.

Bermuda grass is up there with bindweed! It was so bad in my front garden bed we spent 3 years pulling it weekly only to have it still be taking over. We finally decided to spray it and then lay weed cloth. It took 3 or 4 more years until we werent getting any Bermuda grass coming through. Then I was finally able to plant pretty things.

Love seeing you out and about, it's so relaxing for some reason. Question: After your tree-correcting video and seeing you working in this particular space of the property I remembered you tying that arbor vitae to the fence, and it looks as if it's still firmly secured. Is the rope coming off soon? Has the tree recuperated?
