Catching up on old videos: ) great explanation and thanks for the advise to just not worry about the details sometimes (like where exactly to fertilize if you trimmed back a plant)
Just a word to the dog owners out there- you might want to watch your animals for a couple days after application of anything that has a smell. We have three doggos, and only one cares or seems to notice the fertilizer. If I use anything that has bone meal, blood meal, or fish fertilizer she is checking it out for a couple days and will try to dig to find the smell.

I always learn a lot from these videos that are about large scale maintenance projects. There's the plan, the organization of materials and tools, the actual process steps, and the clean up. This shows me how to be efficient, work smart and methodically through tasks. Garden Answer covers a very large and diverse garden area, but the process is still applicable to my suburban yard. Thank you!

Hello everyone! I see this was uploaded April 1st. I was wondering if someone could answer a couple questions for me. 1. Where do you get your soil tested (and can you test multiple spots because I have clay in the back and not in the front. 2. What is the best time to fertilize? Is it always April 1st? Thanks everyone and thanks so much for the video! Just bought my first bag of Holly Tone!

Hi Laura! I've seen people using inexpensive PVC pipes to get things to the base of plants - might be a good solution if your funnel doesn't work as well as you hope. I plan to use the PVC pipe method this year because of the low cost, multiple circumference options, and ease of cutting for whatever length I need. Thank you for sharing all of your amazing knowledge!

Are there any risks associated with breathing in those fertilizers? I noticed a lot of dust was kicked up from pouring the fertilizer, and there was a slight breeze. Would a respirator be a good idea, or are the fertilizer particles known to not cause any problems? (I work with clay, and silica dust is dangerous, so I find myself more mindful of what I'm breathing)

I thought I will write this down on my calendar when to fertilize the flower gardens and bushes to refer to for next year, then I thought merch How about a Garden Answer calendar on when to do what, seedling, fertilizing, etc. as there are many ways to find success. A tshirt with that quote on it would be really great, then we wouldn't forget that.

I use these products. The worst part is the smell! Ugh. I cant get the smell out of my nose and have to wash the clothes and shower right away. Also learned the hard way I cant use in my back yard where my dogs have access. Its like a magnet to them and they will stink like it. That said, its a great product. Been using for 20 years.

It would be great if Espoma set up some way to purchase in bulk and we could use large buckets as you did in this video. The bags are difficult to use and NOT recyclable (in my area anyway) and it makes me cringe every time I have to toss a bag in the trash. ESPOMA if you're listening. please make bulk purchases happen! Thanks so much!

I love your orange kitty! I have two. Actually, this was good to watch, as I was looking at the labels of the different Espoma fertilizer bags and didn't know which one to go with. I have the plant tone and rose tone, and guess I'll stick to those, although saw someone else's video saying they use Holly tone for a lot of plants.
