Watering Plants & The Arrival of Our Glass Greenhouse! Garden Answer Sherri: Great idea with the misters for the girls. For my four girls I take down milk jugs filled with water that Ive put in the freezer the night before. Leave one under their coop where the hang out to and another over by the cooler corner of their run where the nestle down in the dirt. Its always cute to see two around one jug and two around the other during the hottest part of the day. I also have shade cloth over their run space and along the south fence area so the majority of their run space is shaded. They also have free range access to part of the yard which Ive fenced off just for them. There are lots of trees that shade the open space too. What we do for our girls!

FYI. if you don't have a pot large enough for the black water pan that Laura uses for the chickens to drink from and take their dust baths in, you could purchase a very sturdy black plastic 'water heater pan' for about $13. They can be found on line at Home Depot, Lowes, or any supply store. They can be purchased anywhere between 16 and 30 (or so) inches round. I used one as a mold for a birdbath I made from cement, but it would be perfect for this purpose also.

I was driving yesterday between Nyssa and Boise yesterday past some hop fields. Last week the hops werent even half way up their poles. Now they have reached the very tops of them. Heat sure does make things grow fast!
So happy the Hartley is actually there on your property! Thanks for the update on that, and everything you share with us!

I'm at timestamp 8: 11 and as you're talking about your Amarillis, my thoughts turn to Christmas time and I'm wondering if they will bloom again, then since they're blooming now?
I can't tell you how THRILLED I am for you Laura at the reality of you getting one of your ULTIMATE DREAMS, your Hartley Green House! You SO deserve it!

Benjamin's reaction to the chicken reminds me of how we need to remember the size difference at his age. That chicken looks like a dinosaur. I'll never forget my daughters first encounter with a sheep. Panic. Anyway, love the way he is so into being part of the lovely homestead.

Only laura can grow christmas amaryllis in the middle of summer. So awesome.
Did anyone have any doubt that she wouldn't have potatoes, no matter what laura touches are always beautiful
What kind of tree is that with the clumps of yellow flowers i think on them

7. 36 In the right bottom corner, if that red plant is coleas, it is fine to go outside. Mine was ok yesterday in 38C and the days before. It gets some shade in the morning and then when the sun comes round my balcony it really hits it.

So quick question. You said that some plants aren't on drip. Is that because you just have been so busy that you haven't had time? Or because they are annuals? I always thought that with drip system it would be less hand watering needed.

If my front yard was dust like that and a storm created that flurry my neighbors would have likely called the cops on me. They peak over my fence and complain about the weeds in my BACK YARD. You're lucky to have such nice neighbors.

It was like living in hell. Thank God I can walk to the beach and have a good swim. I did that at 8. 30 every morning. The sun was unbearable. This is Greece.
