15 Perennials that Love the Heat! Garden Answer Julia: This is so helpful. Thank you Laura. You always put so much effort in to your videos. I am so appreciative of the way that you don't always focus and use, Proven Winners only, Seeds and plants in other varieties make your program more balanced and interesting. Please don't get me wrong, as I adore PW plants so much and I would like to use them everywhere in my garden, if I could get my hands on them! However, I live in subtropical Qld, Australia and I we can not get many of the PW varieties here. The problem is that not only are they relatively new here, but it is that the average gardener doesn't know they exist! Also, most of the big garden centres, and the smaller ones don't offer many varieties. They are called AUSSIE WINNERS here, and the pots are black, so the AW logo doesn't stand out at all.

Wow! I can't wait to go to your website. LOL! I just move to Plains, MT last Aug, and I am getting conflicting zonal answers. (4, 5, 6. We live 2500' up, on 5 acres with a creek, needless to say lots of deer. I am just figuring what/how/where to plant. Thank you for all the deer resistance suggestions. I lived in Portland, OR and didn't have many issues, just put the plant in the ground pretty much! LOL. Now off to your site. and resources.

FYI- All parts of lilies are EXTREMELY toxic to cats. I had one walk by one and get pollen on her fur that had dropped off onto the ground, later I caught her cleaning it off. Just that small amount was enough to put her in the ICU for a week and end up with permanent kidney damage. You might want to discourage your kitty from walking around the ones in front of the chicken coop. Maybe put those prickly mats around them.

Thank you, any annuals for heat or drought tolerance? I noticed a bunch of your suggestions are ones that can be started from seed but are there varieties that are tolerant that can't be relied on to come back every year? Looking for options for our long sad looking driveway we also average 9 inches of rain a year and I won't be able to run irrigation along the driveway yet

Can you make a video unless you have one already for flowers that are fine in more clay like soil?
My soil here is chunky clay like and I'm trying to work with the ground (open to suggestions) to have it broken down a bit more and i would like to pop flowers especially for the pollinators but I'm honestly not sure where to even start haha

I have a lilac pink purple bee balm. I bought a tiny plant 6 years ago. The second spring it did not come back (or so I thought) the third year it came back and I saved seeds. You have to get these before the birds do but they come up great. I grow them with the wild hyssop. The bees etc love them.

Thank you for this informative video. Youve given me so many ideas for my one very sunny border. Its hard to keep plants alive there. The rest of my garden is very lush but that killer garden drives me crazy. I really appreciate the complete plant list too. Now Im off to buy plants. l

What do you use to keep all the weeds out? I have an amazing rock garden on the side of my house. we have planted lots of naturaluzing perennials, but the weeds grow up right through the midst of the plants. In the large grasses, all throughout my bushes too. help!
