Spreading Compost and Planting a New Hibiscus Variety! Garden Answer Laura: Truly gorgeous! I love watching the progress on the new property. It's really coming along. You've mentioned before that you've considered putting in a pond. Question for you, how would you keep it filled with water when you live in high desert? I live in south Arkansas where the annual average rainfall is about 50 inches. This time of year is typically our driest season and our ponds get LOW! I can't imagine how low it would get in your area without supplemental water? Not trying to be a jerk, just genuinely curious!

Laura, a tip weve used when seeding grass next to flower beds takes two people. One to run the seeder and another to carry a large stiff cardboard along the edge of the bed simultaneous to the seeding the flying seeds hit the cardboard and bounce back into the lawn side so you maintain that crisp edge youve created. Its looking beautiful by the day. I think the layer of compost was a great idea in lieu of mulch in our area at least they are similarly priced in bulk truckloads

I'm doing Random planting also. This is really first time I've done this much work on a yard. Usually was renting and weren't my yards. Trying to fill in the empty yard. Today I bought Beautyberry for my mideast yard. Be interesting to see how it's gonna survive coming out of a greenhouse and going into a fall ground!

I have got to say, when you changed the front of your house I was a bit sad but it has turned out beautifully. It looks like it has been like that for years - it just fits and makes sense. Also, that sky is beautiful. .. Looks just like the sky Aaron photo shopped into the thumbnails a little while ago.

Transforming your new property seemed an insurmountable task in the beginning and yet it seems like it went so quickly. It has so added value to your property. I cant wait until you purchase your next new property. Once again youve proven hard work and a positive attitude completes the task.

Can anyone please tell me what you call that tool that drilled a hole for the hibiscus so quickly? I live in New Mexico where the soil is clay/sand dry hard and basically like like trying to dig up cement. That looks so fast and easy. Do you think I could rent one from Home Depot?

Watching you clear the brick pathway with the blower is so satisfying. My husband and I are buying each other DeWalt power tools for every holiday and occasion and we recently got that! Next up is my birthday and I'm getting the cement mixing drill and an auger!

LAURA the property is looking fresh a clean and, sharp. I also wonder how you keep all that dust out of your home. Mine stays dusty and I clean and clean. But mine is sand here at Myrtle Beach, the dogs bring it in. Thanks for all your videos love them all.

Love seeing the compost application! All the transformations are quite inspiring for some future projects in my own garden.
Im considering purchasing the large auger you used for the Hibiscus, but, was wondering if it would work in HEAVY clay soil?
