Planting 5 More Fall Containers! Garden Answer Sandy: Hi Laura! The containers turned out really pretty. I agree with Aaron, the low containers flanking the black bench are my favorite, too. I like how you added the hydrangeas and dried corn to the planters. I'm glad you saved some of the plants in the pot since you usually pull everything out even though it still looks good. The window box on the chicken coop is still so beautiful! Kudos for not pulling those plants and the ones in the containers there. I'd still like to see an update on the containers by the cold frame, one plant per pot. Others below have requested this, too. Have you ever tried making a wreath out of cut hydrangeas? I'd love to see you do that. Thank you so much for sharing!

Hi Laura and Aaron, I grew up in England but have lived my adult life equally beteeen the northern and southern hemisphere, for the past ten years in Australia. Since living here I have severely missed those country/cottage/formal gardens of the northern hemisphere. A huge thank you by the way, for the escapism through your video's! Reminiscing of those northern gardens. I remember my five cedars (Conifers) planted in a drift with hydrangeas tooked beneath them. When the late afternoon sunlight caught them, how stunning the flowers of the hydrangeas were against the backdrop of the gorgeous emerald green conifers. I hope you try this on your south garden. just a thought! xxxx

Thank you for the ideas again. I have had a brutal start to the school year as a teacher in the middle of a pandemic, but I am going to plant some yellow snapdragons, which are my favourite, and add some pumpkins to our new gardens that already have some gorgeous proven winners limelight hydrangeous which are just showing a faint hint of pink, and with the purple snapdragons are going to add some new life. The wigelias and quickfires in the second garden are holding up but this gives me some ideas for colour for the fall. Thank you so much for being a creative gardener and for lifting my spirits once again!

Love all of the containers with all of the different colors, textures and shapes. A feast for the eyes! So beautiful for fall. The only thing I might have changed is switching the placement of the Alternanthera and Lamium (in the spring. There would have been more of a contrast if the Lamium was next to the black bench, rather than the Alternanthera. But, maybe the Alternanthera would have been swallowed up in the shade of the trees. Hard to say. They look beautiful as is.

Keep up the fall themed videos! I went back and watched your October Garden Tour video and was cracking up! It is cool to see how different your garden was and funny to hear you talk plans. I feel like Marty McFly while talking to you on the screen like, Yep, you will do a fancy greenhouse in this area! and Nope, next year will not be your biggest year of new trees. I love to be able to see the fantastic transformation your garden has taken over the years! So fun!

Hi Laura, unrelated question. Ive managed to propagate 3 oak leaf hydrangeas this year they have been outside in pots the whole time. When should I plant them in the ground? Im not sure if I should bring them in for the winter or not. All info I can find is in relation to having them indoors from the beginning. Please help if you can! Thank you so much!

Love them all! In using the hydrangea stems, since they're no longer live plants, I suppose they'll just start looking more fall-ish (or esque as you say) as they dry out? Do you use any Wilt Stop on them? We also live in an area prone to 50mph wind storms, so how will they withstand those winds if they turn into dried hydrangea stems?

gardenanswer in your video called planting 5 more fall containers, time 5: 38, you cut from your lime light hydrangeas some cuttings for a planter. How do you know where its safe to cut being that its fall in order to avoid reducing possible blooms next year? I want to cut from mine but am afraid to hurt next years flowers.

We removed a 100 year old tree that was completely hollow inside, even the branches were hollow. Now I have a spot to plant my garden. Planted 6 fruit trees. Can't wait to get the ground just right. My husband who is also a gardener loves to plant everything except vegetables. That is where I come in. Lol

Has anyone ever saved the potato vine tubers, or potatoes, whatever they are like we do with dahlias and plant next season? Just wondered if it works? I had some huge ones this year. Im falling more in love with foliage plants since watching how Laura plants them up.
