Spreading More Compost & Planting the Barn Pots for Fall! Garden Answer Jemma: Hi Laura, Aaron, & everyone. I have been watching your vlogs for several years. I love gardening, I used to have 2 very cute flower beds in the front yard. For the past 4 years, I losted the ability to walk. In 2017, I had to quit my job that I loved. I worked for our school system. I worked with children who had learning disabilities. I am currently disabled & waiting for a surgery to help me walk again. I wanted to tell u that in a low point in my life, I found u making your pallet walkway & I was hooked. Since then, I have watched everyday u vlog. U have inspired me to start 1 of my flowerbed up again. I received help from my niece, nephew, & my husband. It's not perfect, but it's looking pretty good (except for the crabgrass. I have my nephew coming next week to help with that problem. The question I have is how do u keep your dark compost looking so good? Do u have any suggestions on keeping it clean w/o a blower? My husband put black organic mulch down. Our neighbor has an invasive sumac tree. Not only do we have to fight sprouts popping up everywhere, but the leaves fall all over the place. When I could walk, I didn't mind raking them up & using them as a form of compost. But now that I depend on others for help, it's harder to keep clean. If u or anyone has suggestions on keeping most of the leaves off, please help. Thank u both for your inspiration, & information.
Next year my husband said he wants to try to install drip tubing. He is very handy, I believe he can figure it out after watching 1 of your vlogs on the subject. Like I said thank u very much.

Hi Laura and Aaron! Adding the compost made such a huge difference. It looks so tidy now. The bricks along both sides of the driveway will look really good. In all of the areas you've added compost it looks like it's pretty thick. Is there a reason for this vs. not having it so thick? I'm just curious if there is an advantage? I'm on the fence with the wood chips around the berry beds and grape trellis. The color is almost the same as the dry dirt. Maybe if you add a pallet pathway from the grass to that area it would tie it in better? Others have suggested a pallet walkway, too, and I think it would look really good. You can't have too many of those, right? LOL! The pots by the barn turned out really pretty. Thank you so much for sharing!

Not meaning to throw any shade. Your property is lovely. But I can't help missing the garden you had when I first started following you. It was a bit more relatable to the average homeowner. I don't have a tractor, auger, or any of the big machinery. I have a small space and do everything by hand with no help whatsoever. I don't feel jealous, but sometimes it can be a little overwhelming to see such big commercial type planting. I loved seeing that small garden you had. It felt like it was something that was attainable.

I like watching the two of you work together- it reminds me of my parents. They built our farm from scratch. The two of them working side by side for years, each doing the work that aligned to theirs strengths and capabilities, just like you two. I enjoy seeing you building your dream and taking us along for the ride. Ive learned and been inspired from you. Thank you.

As a home gardener I appreciate the cost of plants and materials. When I see how much landscaping and materials you have added so quickly I have to ask how you can afford it. Are you building something other than a home garden? Please excuse me if I have offended you with the question but I have to ask. Also how do you have all the time?

Question: Do you fertilize through your drip system? I've seen several videos lamenting the time it takes to fertilize plants and with your extensive drip setup, doing it that way would save time. Love the videos, they're such a joy in the morning. I can garden vicariously while I'm in my office cubicle.

Seeing the mulch spread out is so satisfying! Its amazing to compare your garden and projects now to some of your older videos. I just watched your basil pruning video from 6 years ago. If anything, its a big inspiration to a newer gardener like me to keep on growing. Thanks for another great video

It seems like just the other day it was a blank space! I'm not sure if it seems like a quick process for you guys living the changes but the transformation even from the spring is massive! It's looking great, I'm looking forward to the continued evolution of the space!

The compost looks so good! I wish we could buy it by the truck load where we live. I love to see Benjamin helping you. My grandson is 7 and he loves to help me in the gardens. It makes my heart proud that he is such a worker and loves gardening as much as I do.
