Pumpkin & Squash Harvest! Garden Answer Susan: We bought the pumpkins and flowers for the centerpieces, going to several grocery stores and box stores to get a variety. We carved out the pumpkins and sprayed the inside with Lysol and put the large Solo cups inside to hold the water with preservative. We separated and spread out all the flowers on the dining room. We then went around the table picking flowers from each pile to make the bouquets. Each was a little different and all so pretty. We had so much fun doing this. Thank you so much for your videos, Laura.

Oh my GOURDNESS, how do you not have a total infestation of squash bugs? I love growing pumpkins, but every single year I lose at least half my crop (if Im lucky) to the vile beasts. I tried getting rid of all the eggs from the leaves, but it became a losing battle. How do you prevent them, how do you treat any that do end up hatching? How do you not just buy a flamethrower and go Scorched Earth on the whole thing?

Do you eat each variety of pumpkin? Or are alot of them more for decoration? The tip top acorn looks so interesting I'm curious to what is tastes like. Its so adorable I would love to docorate with pumkim. I live in the tropics with high humidity. There are even moments in winter when it can get quiet hot. I was thinking winter would probably be the most likely time I could display them.

Hi. Amazing crop. looks like they love the warm dry climate. but black widows? So dangerous, especially for the cats and Benjamin. can you spray for them?
I know you don't like to use any chemicals, but just getting one into your storage area, or even the motorized equipment, could be bad. Would love to hear how you deal with them. thanks for another great program!

What a wonderful harvest this year. Hard work and planning pays off. Good job. Love the throw and Catch you and Aaron were doing. Hey Aaron what is going on with the composting? Did that get pushed back a while. I just hadn't seen or heard any updates. Not like you two don't have enough to keep you busy. Just a question. Have a wonderful day you two. Thank you.

definetly keeping in mind some of those pumpkin varieties, i grew good vines this year but they never got around to fruiting with the extremely rainy and cool year, those jack be little and casperita look like just what i need for those randomly shorter/slowed growing seasons

Do you think you guys will continue Pumpkin Palooza in the future? I know it probably wasn't possible this year and last but I have to say it was so incredibly heart warming to see a real sense of community with so many families showing up in a small town for a festival like that

What happens to the vines once the pumpkins are all done? Is any part of the vine edible by your chickens? (Could we have a chicken update soon, too? I so enjoy a chicken update) I recall that you sometimes give overripe produce to them, do they like pumpkins/squash?

Hi Laura, you mentioned that the pumpkins were pretty heavily infested with aphids. You didnt seem too upset about it. Id love to hear your philosophy on pest control. Im in Wisconsin and the insects are a constant problem. Thanks! You guys are the best!

I love it! I had 4 plants I grew in grow bags this year and ended up with 11 pumpkins. I was so thrilled. I love fall and I'm so proud of my little porch display every time I pass it. Will try and grow more variety next year. I love all the ones you grew
