I live in Sydney Australia and I get your videos around 9pm. (We are 17 hours ahead of you) That's my time to hit the treadmill to make up my steps for the day. It makes the time go so fast when you're watching something you love! BUT. I almost had a panic attack last night (Monday) when I was all ready to do my steps and nothing came through! At 10pm the video came. Silly me, forgot that our daylight savings started on Sunday! Keep those videos coming! You are making a healthier and fitter me!

I love the tree and agree that the position is prefect. Your four colour combinations make so much sense but, as I've mentioned before, could you not make room for a silver birch? Adding another item of interest would be good too? I'm a driver so do quite a bit of travelling around but silver birch trees catch my attention every time! I've thought of you and your south garden and wish you would add one or two of these trees too.

That crabapple is stunning, and you are so right - it really does bring the space to life with the added 4th colour. Do you know of anyone in your area that have had success with Pieris Japonica? They do prefer an acid soil. My grandmother had several varieties, as well as crab apples, Japanese maple, Prunice, Rhodedendrons, Camelias, Kalmia, dogwood, various connifers and my fave - the Lyndon tree.

So fun to see your gardens come to life. I'm new to gardening and have learned so much from your videos. I've never heard of planting those 4 colors together in a garden. Such good advice. Do you have any suggestions on a garden design book that a newbie like me could read to learn some of the fundamentals of garden design? Thanks so much for sharing all you do.

That's a good explanation of color theory that should be easy to understand for those who might be a little intimidated by trying to come up with a design-that was great advice from your Mom. Is there a reason you don't use root washing when planting trees? I'm on the fence about it but there is a lot of science out there at the university level that supports it.

What can you tell us about rootstocks for crabs? I have such issues with many of my crabappples sprouting a forest around the trunks, from the root. What is a good rootstock to avoid this? I know growers use several different kinds of rootstock. The trouble is, sellers often give only a blank stare when asked about the rootstock! LOVE your videos

The gift gardening gives is by starting manageably small (whatever that means to you) you get to watch as the journey unfolds. Things are never done so it's always a labor of love project. It gets me up in the morning, knowing there's something to attend to out there. So nice the berries will provide for wildlife: )

Laura, I must say I looove the woodchips look in that area. It gives a natural look, really woodland-like and it's different from the perfect looking rest of the garden Don't feel pressure to put mulch in that area soon, we all make choices in our garden because it's cheep so it's nice to be able to relate to that

Hi Laura and Aaron! That is a beautiful tree and will be more beautiful in bloom next Spring. It looks like it's in the perfect spot! It was obviously meant to be considering you were out for a drive and just happened to stop at the nursery. I really like the multi trunk trees. Thank you so much for sharing!
