Planting Succulents in a Dress Form! Garden Answer Gail: I'm so glad I watched thos. I have a large topiary dragon frame that I have done different things with. First I used succulents like you, but struggled because I didn't remove as much soil from the roots, worried I might kill them, and used aloe plants for the spikes going down the back of her head and back. She was beautiful, but because of the expense for the number of plants and the work, I decided to cover her with flowers the next year. I stuffed the topiary with moss and it would shrink down and I would have to refill it. Because of the size of the topiary, this gets expensive. It never dawned on me to fill with burlap! That's creative thinking! I'm going to try that this year.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this video and project! I am dying to tackle something like this myself. I'd love to understand more fully how you would do a topiary using the dry moss and hot glue method. I am pretty new to succulents and am not quite sure how to use the glue in a way that doesn't kill them. :P

I had the pleasure of meeting you and Aaron at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle in early 2020 before the crazy set in. This reminds me of all the beautiful flower gowns they had on display at that show. You could have entered this dress into the competition it so gorgeous!

Oohh, I have the same dress form! Thanks for the inspiration. my wheels are definitely turning. This turned out beautiful. The only downside, and it's a big one, is that this project would literally cost hundreds of dollars to complete.

Wow I never knew succulents can grow in moss. Theres always something new to learn. Andrews customers are lucky to see this. Imagine if I live close by this garden center, Ill probably be there on my days off all the time.

I absolutely love this living art! She just needs one of those purse shaped bird houses or potted blooming tulips or buttercup at the base of the stand. I love seeing the displays you and your family do at the store.
