Planting Amaryllis, Paul Built Custom Root Cellar Shelves + Frost Free Water in the Greenhouse! I've had good success with rebooting amaryllis. I leave outside over summer (water/fertilize, and allow to chill with fall weather. I bring inside just before first hard freeze, stop watering for about 8 weeks to let foliage dry/bulb go dormat, then repot. Mine usually rebloom in January/February to brighten the winter. For me, allowing the bulb to chill with the fall weather is what seemed work for me. I do have a friend who simply treats as a house plant with no chilling or rest period. Her bulb bloomed on third year quite by surprise and beautifully in March!

I am so glad you got you frost free faucet in the greenhouse! Those guys are gems!
I love amaryllis flowers. I used to keep my two or three bulbs and treated them like tulips in their pots in the house (cut off the flower stalk when it was done. Then I d let the leaves continue until they started getting tired. Then trimmed them off, quit watering and stuck the pots under my kitchen sink. Eventually they would start sprouting new leaves, at which time I brought them back out, started watering them, and they d bloom again. I could get 3 or 4 years out of them that way.

Always a pleasure to watch your videos and learn so much from you. I enjoyed learning more about Amaryllis from you. I will have to try one. or three now. I remember my mom having a Pussy Willow as a child growing up. I loved it. the coolest thing. You sure do a fabulous job using them. I need to see if I can grown one in my area. I would be thrilled! Samantha Grace is so cute and stylish helping. Your boy Benjamin helps so much as well. You are a great teacher. Thanks for always teaching and inspiring. Blessings to you

Who's that there behind those Foster Grants? I think you have to be old to remember that ad. Samantha Grace is a doll. Make those memories and she'll take over the show when you retire. It goes faster than you think.
Oh, let me update you on my two Dahlia tubers that ibwas so proud of. My son saw them on the counter and thought they were rotten onions or shallots and threw them away. Now I will need to start all over. At least now I will know what to do.

Was so fun to see Samantha at work. Brought a smile to this Grandmother.
Kudos to Pedro and crew on getting the frost free hydrant into the greenhouse. (Those blue chairs outside the entrance are nice touch.
I recall when you put the wire shelves in the root cellar that you said you would wait to see if you would install wooden shelves once you used the space. how wonderful to have multi talented Paul!

This was such a fun video. I am so impressed at how meticulous Samantha was in planting and her picking the white amaryllis for that pot was perfect. She has natural artistic ability for sure.
Pauls shelves are so well built. is there anything he can't do.
Having that water in the greenhouse is a game changer. sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference

So glad you are all feeling better! Sweet Samantha is such a big helper! I love it did Aaron notice that you trimmed the branches from the walkway? We use a Coolbot/ air conditioner set up at the flower shop where I work. It is such an amazing, inexpensive way to create a cooler system. The shelves and new frost free will make your life easier! Bravo!

Samantha was being so cute. You have a little diva there. I enjoy my amaryllis indoors during winter and come spring I plant them outside (zone 8) and they become late spring/summer bloomers for me. I have several I ve done this way and color stays true. I love the pots you used. Were they purchased that way or did they distress over time?

The pussy willow branches is such a good idea. I ve just potted my amaryllis bulb last week, so I think I will try and find some flexible branches to use as supports for the flower stalks and leaves.
I also don t love the green canes.
Nice job Paul, I love how creative and handy he is. I remember him building the stand for the augers.

Just a great video today. Lots going on. So cute Samantha Grace was with the compost. Putting it on to the pots. Helping her mum. So beautiful when you planted all the pots. And shout out to Paul for his hard work today. Looks so much better and shout to to Pedro and his team for the extra water pipe in your greenhouse.

Laura always a good video. Thank you for teaching mom & I, on how to garden. It has really helped with both our anxiety. The hard part is winter, when you can't do anything. What annuals do you think are the easiest to over winter and ones that are the hardest? What about annual grasses? And what would be the best steps?

Samantha is a PRO like her Momma. so neat and tidy! She is so adorable and always looking runway fashionably styled!
LAURA. I love all those, you re so talented! I made a cloche with my pussy willows over a wire vine, and the idea came from you when I first watched you do this years back! Paul did a great job!

Can you provide details on the pussy willow bush?
I recently moved to zone 6B and I think I need one! is there a preferred variety? Mature size, pest and disease susceptibility, care etc. would help me determine if I can squeeze one in somewhere. I ve wanted one since you did this project last year! Thank you!

Do you leave the cushions on your outside furniture on all season or do you cover them or take them inside when it s going to rain? They always look so nice, here they would be a moldy mess. Thanks you for all you do, I ve learned so much from you and my garden is a happier place to be in because of that.

Thank you, Laura. You guys run such a tight ship, with beautiful, well-thought-out detail.
Your little ones are growing up in a wonderland of things they will ALWAYS recall w fondness and will replicate, w their own twists, when they are grown, and you are old.
Enjoy the best years of your life.

Samantha filling the pot with soil, cleaning the soil off the rim of the pot, showing Mom what she has done, then dumping the soil back in the bag, and repeating the same process again. HOW STINKING CUTE! I think mom and Samantha need to have a tea party in the Hartley. Great job on the shelving, Paul!
reply

Ohhh, Samantha is just beautiful! To me, she looks like your mom. She was so neat and tidy brushing off the rim of the pot like her mom! Paul is always wonderful. Pedro and his crew are fantastic! That picture you shared of the trench with all the lines running through there was amazing!

Good morning Laura and family
Ahh such a fun time with mom planting, I'm wondering if I can do grape vine branch on my amaryllis bulbs? The Hartley looks cozy I can see why Russell likes to be in there.
Thank you Laura for sharing this video, have a wonderful rest of the day
