Today I'm harvesting Ranunculus, Nigella, and Orlaya for a few custom orders I'm creating. Then I will plant some more of my dahlia tubers, show you how to pinch and stake dahlias, and get around to some general garden chores

Yes! Just last year I planted the black & blue salvia and all of it came back even nicer than the year before! I also wintered over my 'playin the blues' salvia (the best one) and 50% of them came back. Several years ago I bought them as annuals but a friend said they could take my zone 7 in Southern NJ.
So I left them in over winter. Yay! Success!
Mulch them good with straw or dry leaves!
Thanks for the tip on the Lavender. I lost all but three. I'll try planting them up a bit!
Choosing Joy- stephanie
PS: Gorgeous arrangements, Danielle!

I am very close to you and my black & blue came back for the third time this year. it was up against a stone landscape wall which I think helped keep it a little warmer. I moved it this spring and found it had really spread. It has a type of tuber amongst the roots. The fuschia one did not make it through the winter. I dug it up and potted it in a sunny window. We replaced the fuschia one this year because we loved it so much last year. We just saw a hummingbird in it this evening. Our dogs love strawberries too.

Love the birds! I put out a feeder and realized I should leave a period before refilling so they don-t become dependent on me-well, oddly enough once the feeder was empty gold finches appeared at my dining room window where I sit and watch them with binoculars in the morning and they appear to be looking in. It-s as if they are giving me a hint or something. Could it be they-re -asking- for a refill? Nature is so interesting when you slow and take the time to watch.

I wish you could see your gardens with new eyes. After all the work, we rarely are able to step back and REALLY see the beauty of what we create in our gardens. We tend to see the chores that still remain. You've done a beautiful job creating your own paradise. So impressive. You are a beautiful woman and have done wondrous things with your small property!

Love the black and blue salvia. Last year found a rockin fushia salvia. Believe it is same hybrid, different color. Really pretty. Have a question about your tall blue bachelor buttons seen in frame 5: 15 to left of birdbath. How many plants right there? Is there any support? What variety? Thank you for these informative videos.

My Black and Blue salvia survived through our extended freeze this last winter here in North Central Texas where it's a perennial. In fact, I think it really liked our freeze as did so many of our perennials.
I find they need a bit more water than most salvias to do well. And yes, the hummingbirds love this plant.

So envious of your ranunculus bed! I-m sure the bouquet recipients were excited to be in the receiving end of your beautiful arrangements! I just learned about growing ranunculus this year and gave it a shot. Sadly, all I have are a few sprouts that have done nothing for 2 months. Maybe next year.

Hi, I am wondering about dahlias. I too, am in zone 6B. I would love to leave all my bulbs, and tubers in the ground, and I am wondering, is it possible to keep the dahlias in the ground, possibly by adding mulch? Thanks! BTW, I love all your videos. So peaceful, so beautiful!

I have had the black and blue salvia return in my 6b zone. It came back for 2 consecutive years then died out. One of my favorites, the hummingbirds love it too. Just last week we were coming thru Lancaster PA, I kept my eye out for your flower stand unfortunately didn't see.

Wonderful video Danielle - seeing and hearing the birds is special. Your bouquets are to die for! We have entered winter here in NZ with bizarre high temperatures. Today it will be 18-20 Celsius. Unheard of - but my plants are loving it - if a bit confused lol.

Hi -- I planted Ranunculus for the first time this year after watching your videos earlier this season on how to start them. The plants look great, but I don't have any blooms yet. Do I need to fertilize? What might cause them to be growing so slowly? Thks

I had black and blue salvia in a pot last year. Brought it in to the basement, watered it once, maybe twice, brought it out into my grow room (sewing room) and it began growing again. I've since been taking and rooting cuttings from it successfully. Love it!

I attempted to grow ranunculus this year. All went well but when they were in the soil in a dark place for the 10 days they started to die. I was checking them and misting them. But they didn-t make it. Very disappointed. But I-ll try again next year.

This Amish mower --- I need to know more about this! My husband and son do our lawn because we have 2 acres and it's a lot --- but --- sometimes I wish I could get out there and touch things up --- I'm too afraid of the big gas mower.

I am in Lancaster County and tried to over-winter Black and Blue Salvia this year and it didn't come back at all. I get it every year though so I'll try every year because it would be amazing if it did over-winter!

Hi Danielle,
Can you succession Plant Renunculus?
Thank you in advance also for the recommendation, 'Cultivated by Christin Geall', I am learning a lot and I am only on page 20 or so.

I-m envious of your strawberries. How do you manage to keep the birds from eating your berries? I went out to harvest and out of 16 I only had four that weren-t eaten into.
