My Cafe Au Lait tubers came from two different locations. One is producing the beige flowers, the other the pinker ones, of which one tuber has produced a really cool 10am to 2pm beige section on an otherwise pink bloom. They are side by side so it is not the location and def the tubers. The two locations I bought them from are Floret (pink) and Warwick (beige. American and Canadian. I also have Cafe au Lait Rose and my observation is the pink one is half way in between the two. My favourite pro cut right now is my red, just love the deep tones, totally mesmerizing. I like to bring dahlias to some of my past interior design customers who are now getting a little older - and that means close to or past 80, anything younger is still young - it brings a happiness that first, I remembered them and took the time, and 2nd the beauty of the flowers themselves. I send xmas cards to all my past customers with one of my photos on the front, usually of a bird with a santa hat graphically applied with an insert that tells the story of the photo, and that gives just as much joy as the flowers.

This is my third summer placing free flower bouquets at my front lawn. I-m not competing with any for-profit flower growers in my suburban neighborhood. I only wish I lived on a street with more traffic. So now I announce my Sunday morning flowers available on the -Nextdoor- app, which seems to be popular in our area. Some of my takers have left me thank you notes, canned food and additional jars, they are all so appreciative of the bouquets. Today I am giving away garden veggies too. I think the yellow squash might be left for me, haha.

Oh but your arrangements are so so pretty. I tried Dahlias for the first time this year and have had mixed success. The ones I planted from tubers are a real disappointment. I probably have them in too much shade and I didn't cut back soon enough. But I bought 2 pots from the grocery store that have been very nice. Not the tall, beautiful blooms but still nice. They have started to fall over but continues to bloom. It is so nice of you to give your arrangements away. I'm sure they brighten everyone 's day that sees them.

You are awesome! Thank you!
I have a recipe to keep flower bouquets lasting longer.
1 part lemon-lime soda (not diet)
with 3 parts water. For each quart of mixture add 1/4 teaspoon household bleach. Pour mixture into the vase add flowers.
The sugar feeds the flower buds, the acid improves water flow in the stems, and the bleach reduces growth of fungus.
This floral preservative was developed at UC Davis in California.

Good Morning! I love watching your videos! I just started planting Gladiolus this year, but it seems when the the top couple of blooms barely start to open, the bottom bloom is already dead. I purchased my corms from a local garden center. Am I not watering them enough? Would the corms be of better quality if I ordered them from someone? I love them, but I've never had one last long enough to put in a vase. Thanks!

This is such a relaxing video and I needed it after a hectic day! Those dahlias and gold light sunflowers are stunning! I grew a million zinnias last year but this only a couple came up. I planted direct again and this time the seeds didn-t germinate. I may try some more inside and transplant. Not sure why they failed this year. We did have some heavy bug pressure and I think the slugs ate some.

I used to bring a bouquet of flowers to school for the front desk when I was teaching. I also put flowers in the staff room from time to time. I always had flowers and plants in my classroom. I used non breakable vases in my classroom. Having something alive and green warmed up the classroom for my students who were preschoolers with special needs. Fragrant flowers and herbs also we are appreciated.

Beautiful video! All your flowers look amazing! I love the dahlias! When you said you plant the sunflowers 6 inches apart but they have big heads so you would plant 4 inches apart, wouldn-t that make them hit one another more? Do some people ever return he mason jars? I mean like repeat customers? Do you have a way to let the customers know about the lilies being poisonous, if they have pets?

Another very timely video. I am currently preparing to host my 2nd annual flower party. I invite family and friends to come to my house and put together arrangements from flowers I cut to take home and enjoy. I also take flowers to the workers at my chiropractor office, co-workers, and really anyone I think would enjoy. I am definitely going to look into the project you mentioned. Thanks!

Love your spirit! You are a beautiful soul! This is my first year growing dahlias and they are just beginning to get blooms. Of course I-m in Idaho so maybe that has something to do with it. I am determined to have beautiful dahlias like yours. Could you please tell me what OBB Tablets are. I-m not familiar! Thanks for the wonderful informative videos. I-m living vicariously through you-

I-m starting a cut flower garden this summer. I do not plan on selling. I am growing for my own enjoyment. I-m not a social person and don-t have many friends. I thought of donating bouquets to a nursing home in a neighbouring community for the residents to enjoy. I started hoarding spaghetti sauce jars for my arrangements. I just need to reach out to the nursing home.

I am loving watching your videos. I make candles with straw flowers in them. I cannot find any wholesale to buy at this time. I use dried products and it seems to be that they are not available. If you could be of any help, I would really be grateful. It looks like you are a gifted grower. I would love to grow my own. I will keep watching your videos. Thank you!

Creatively,
I don't have a customer base built up as of yet so I have a large surplus of flowers that I have been donating to frame is donating to friends family coworkers and neighbors! My mom can be a bit of a grinch, and so I've been forcing her to give some away (-) because I know whenever I do it, I really enjoy it, and she has been loving it!

Just watching this again to see how far bloomed out the Dahlias are. I've only cut 1 so far and it only lasted 3 days, wondering if the length of the stem also makes a difference, some of my blooms are on really short stems. It does looks as tho I cut it at the same stage as you cut yours. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, from anyone.

What a lovely gesture to give bouquets to the nurses. As usual all of your flowers look great. It-s good that you know that open sunflowers are what the customers for your stand want. Do you have any suggestions for flowers like Ammi or Yarrow that shed? Heard hairspray works but would like to know what you suggest or use. Thank you!

Friends, neighbors, people I work out with, my trainer and an event for Mission Aviation Fellowship were all recipients from my cut flower/yard. It's so fun to give to people, especially when they really don't expect it. - Who, for me? -, is usually the comment. What a joy to give as I have been given to.

I'm a nurse at a VA hospital here in NC and this video really touched my heart, Danielle. Thank you for putting such positivity out into the world. I'm planning on making some small mason jar arrangements tomorrow to take to my Granny's assisted living facility on Friday evening for them all to enjoy.

It-s wonderful of you to think of others and bless them with beautiful cut flower arrangements! I wanted to do the same this year, inspired by Laura and her mom, but I learned that growing flowers has a big learning curve! Maybe I-ll try again next year.

I've been giving mason jar bouquets to elderly neighbors, sick neighbors, the women who work with my husband, my dogs groomer and the woman who takes care of my horse! And of course family! I love that it makes people so happy when they receive one!
