I love your garden, but I also love the idea of discussing garden books! I have been buying garden and landscape books and magazines for several decades (yes, I'm that old) and the best thing about them is they never ever go out of style. Gardening is forever. So, though new books will always come available, and I love them, the old books are just as valuable to me. Sometimes the new books are priced so high, that the older books are more appealing. I just recently purchased a few used books by John Brookes, design expert and teacher, who passed away in 2018. These are like textbooks on landscape design. He says he was foremost a designer, not a grower. I have John Brookes Garden Masterclass, Garden Design Book, the Garden Design Workbook that goes with it, Garden Design Course, and The Country Garden. Ok, I get carried away when buying books through resellers on eBay, which is usually the cheapest place I know to shop for used books. Don't ask me which is best, I just got them in. Thank you for all you share with us!

Hi Danielle, Lovely to walk through your beautiful tulips.
I thought of Dianthus straight away for replacing sage or even lambs ears, for repeat planting. Less hard work and soft on the eyes.
It's quite low growing and hardy in my pacific country of New Zealand.
I've cut back my sage, and really, it does take over and become woody.
Jo. great to see you again.
Lingerie daffodils are a work of art. i also love the white simple ones.
The yellow daffodils are such a stand out, but if you dont like them, its more work for you. They are seemless with the background shrubs which lets the eye rest again.
I think a natural looking garden should have rooms that are restful and have repeat planting. There are a lot of other places in your garden to do contrasting colours for accents of colours. especially your cutting gardens.
I hope I've talked you out of removing those heavenly, natural looking, yellow drifts of daffs.

Hello from Melbourne, I would absolutely not move the yellow daffodils as the cream ones have yellow centres and this is picked up by the yellow ones in the distance. The yellow ones also look good with the yellow leaves of the large shrub behind it. Love your spring garden as we slide into autumn and winter. The lingerie daffodil is beautiful, hope we can get it here in Australia. Truely don’t go moving something that looks perfectly planted!

Everything looks beautiful! I love the Lingerie and Salome daffs. I'm in the process of adding more spring blooms to my perennial gardens and planted apricot impressions for the first time this year. I love the combo you have with the purple tulips. Grace is so cute trotting around the garden. One question I had. Do you dig up your tulips every year and replant for the following year Or do you leave them to hopefully rebloom

Everything looks good! Love your gardens. I, too, love the old-fashioned plants like bleeding hearts. My grandmother always grew them. My grandmother also grew a small shrub she called flowering almond. It bloomed with fluffy pink double flowers and had chartreuse leaves (if I’m remembering correctly) for the rest of the season. I’d love to a have one but have never seen it for sale anywhere.

Hi Danielle,
Your garden is very beatiful, Your talking about rain it rained here for two days. wish it would warm up so I can clean up my big pots. Lillies are about 3 inches tall. I must have 500 to 100 snapdragons babbies in the pots, lots of petunias wont have to start too many going to make my 5x5 trays can fit 8 per 10x20 tray. Getting my Amaryllis potted up in the garage have 1 19 inch pot.

That Lingerie daffodil is beautiful! I enjoy these weekly walks. The raised bed area is looking good.
I have tulips and daffodils blooming now and there is just nothing like them! I have added more lillies and alliums, as I realize they add so much to the summer garden. Any other bulbs you recommend My old Forsythia. didn't bloom this year, so thinking I may need to prune on it, any advice

I love today’s the garden tour, everything is so beautiful. Do your tulips come back every year, or do you purchase new bulbs every year I quit growing them years ago because of the deer, but since I started early spraying of Liquid Fence, they haven’t bothered the irises, daylilies and others things. Maybe I’ll try tulips again next year.

The garden looks terrific! Question: do you keep your tulips in the ground or treat them as annuals (And I enjoy the book talk even more than I thought I would. We’ve been to Hortculus for the past several years and I’m so sorry that I missed the era of being able to tour the garden! The festivals and shop are still worth the trip)

Love all your changes! Love the yellow daffodils! But I understand your desire to maintain a color scheme in each area. Depends on your motivation, I decide whether to move or not. I used to try to keep yellow to a specific area, but now I’m just happy for the color in spring. Good luck deciding!

You’ve been so busy! Amazing progress in just one week, congrats! Would you be able to show us how to make the tepee trellis Also, to level your raise beds, are you able to do that job yourself I need to level mine but I’m not sure where to start when the bed is already established/filled with soil.

My family keeps asking me whether I don't have enough daffs -- meanwhile, I am taking photos so I know where there are gaps to be filled for next spring. The yellow daffs are very cheerful but seem a bit brassy for that area. I would move them. Thanks for sharing your garden with us!

Maybe intersperse just a FEW yellow daffs in the lingerie bed Also, the yellow next to the Movado(sp)tulip makes a nice, but bold combo. Glad to hear you are opening up the path to the library. It will shout, Come on in and set a spell!

So beautiful! Actually breathtaking Danielle! I love everything so perfect. I personally don’t care for yellow daffodils. So I would say move them. It’s easy to say harder to do. I love love love these garden walks. Thank you very much.

That was such a joy to watch! I've decided I must buy more daffodil bulbs! You've inspired me once again. Can you remind me what the vines are that you have growing on your hydrangea room arches Thank you!
