The Reality of Living in the Canadian Wilderness in Winter Building a Sauna with Hand Tools

winter Wind and snow continue to make life difficult for Cali and I as we deal with a harsh Canadian winter. Wind whips across the lakes and buffets the log cabin while I continue raising the walls of the log sauna before a Polar Vortex settles over the area for the next few days. Hot soup made with fresh walleye/pickerel and coconut milk cooked on the wood-fired stove in the off grid kitchen thaws me out before settling in for a cold, windy night in the cabin

Whoops! Cali lost two boots - hopefully she has a back up pair? Love the stew prep and simmer on your wood stove and enjoying a bowl while perusing a book. Such a cozy and peaceful end to the day, especially with Cali tucked up in the chair beside you. Life is good!

As always. stunning intro shots! Cali is adorable! Everything about your videos revolves around the balance between the harshness & beauty of nature! Loved your soup btw! Oh. is this the last of the Sauna videos? Have I missed something? I see it's from Jan 27.

This is all I want in life. Somewhere to live like that. Wife cant seem to understand my burning desire for the woods though. Im stuck in a place I hate because I love her enough.

Shawn, are you at all concerned about exceeded the snow load capacity on your cabin? Looks like a LOT of snow up there.
Really enjoy your videos. GREAT job!

Gidday, in Brisbane Australia, tradesmen will work until the temperature hits 42, with humidity of 85%, but they will pack up if the temperature goes down to 10.

Absolutely one of the prettiest places Ive ever seen! You certainly are carrying all of us along on your journey; you tell us the story eloquently! Thank you!

What does Cali eat? Does she get some of your cooking or only dog food? Do you have to give her special dog food due to the cold temperatures there? Thanks

12: 18 you gotta be kidding me! A log cabin, a fireplace, a warm meal, a dog and reading book in a warm cozy corner. cant get any cozier than that!

Shawn, if you ever need a helper I'll do it for free, just to get away from the city of Los Angeles. I'll give you 30 days. DM me please.
