After 6 weeks on the road exploring the sunny American south, I return to the cabin on the coldest day of the year. On the first warmer day, I take advantage of the winter thaw to replace the front windows on the cabin, from salvaged single pane wood fixed windows to new wood and double pane awning windows that will provide better insulation in the winter and more ventilation in the summer. I talk about where I've been, show some footage of the American southwest and share some plans for upcoming projects. Apple Podcast: Spotify: Podcast: Patreon: Rumble: Hi, I'm Shawn James. I am a passionate outdoorsman living the life of my dreams in a log cabin that I built by myself in the Canadian wilderness. Join me and my golden retriever, Cali and listen to the sounds of the forest in this relaxing wilderness setting. I prefer to keep my talking to a minimum and let the natural sounds of nature make you feel as though you are there with me. So you got to Sedona. It is for my money one of the most beautiful places in Arizona if not the world. I first saw Sedona in the 1940s and have loved it ever since. My dad’s theory was that Sedona is what the Spaniards saw and called the seven cities of gold. He could be right. If you’ve ever seen it with the rising sun they are golden rather than red in color. Anyway a breathtakingly beautiful place.

The awesome beauty of desert southwester US. I hope you enjoyed your time there.
When I was a child, my 6th grade teacher had a subscription to Arizona Highways and was my introduction to the beauty of Arizona. I've never been able to actually visit. Canada has the same beauty, though of a different kind, I have been there, not to far from you. '-)

So glad you were able to travel in the states a bit. Next time try it in Maythe weather is usually good about everywhere then. I thoroughly enjoy all your videos and agree that we all need to learn more on how to survive. Also agree it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Anyway keep it coming. I have learned a lot from you.

I’ve missed your videos and looked for them every week. There’s not many good things to watch these days that’s entertaining and educational at the same time. I’ve been watching your videos ever since before you started building your other cabin. Glad your back with new videos and looking forward to seeing them tomorrow.

It amazes me how some people think they can tell other people what to do or not do with their property. Do they want someone telling them what they can or can't do No, they don't. People just need to watch and keep their mouths shut unless it's saying something good. I enjoy these videos so much. Thank you and keep on keeping on.

This is still, and I am very sure my favorite Cabin Video. There is nothing phoney about how you build your Cabin. For me the Best parts are your Love of the Countryside, your close relationship with your Wife, your Daughters, how you take such good care of your dog. The best is your Honesty, and your quiet nature!

Good to see your home is continuing to develop. I always thiught the single pane windows were a litle under spec for your Canadian winter
Ive also has trouble with poor designed small windows that dont open out to allow food summer ventilation here in UK
Good to see the place is coming along

Welcome back. Glad both you and the wife mostly enjoyed the trip. I'll bet you weren't expecting to come back to thunderstorms and shirt sleeve working weather in February! Though it was a timely break to let you get the windows in. Looking forward to seeing and hearing how things change.

Belated Happy Birthday to Mrs. James. Glad to see you back and I hope you had a wonderful vacation. I liked the window install and how the windows crank outwards. Great to see Cali again too. It would be interesting to know how she liked the trip and what she got into. She's a great companion.

You did great installing the windows considering it very appeared to be a two person job and Calli did all she could to help! It must be tough to be very inspired after six weeks on the road vacationing but at least your weather seems to be cooperating a bit.

From the live comments there appears to be the belief do and done by some and wondering why windows should be replaced. Life is a constant progress and things constantly change and changes can often be for the better.

We just put new good double paned windows in a few years ago. They have made the world of difference! I love your windows- you will be happy you changed them. Love your video from MidMichigan. Takoda says Woof to Cali!

As much fun as it was to watch you build a log cabin in the middle of a snowy winter, I'm glad you took a well deserved break to explore the planet and get a bit of sun. Looking forward to this next episode.

The only thing bad about double-panned windows ism that I can no longer hear the rain! I suppose that is a good thing but at my age it’s the simple pleasures that I really do enjoy!

Good, I was wondering where you disappeared to. Hope you enjoyed the good Southern cooking down south! I look forward to seeing this video, been having withdrawals for the past few weeks.
