Preparing to be ALONE (part 7 of 14) - Trout or No Trout?

As I have the entire day to spend, I take my time to make an assessment of the lake I have broken into. As I make my way around I disturb a family of beavers as soon as I make use of their lodge as a dock. I also talk about some of the features that brook trout prefer in a lake and some of the limiting factors. I also outline my thoughts on the lake and the limitations in fishing it as well as it's overall potential. Before leaving the lake I examine the remains of a turtle shell and how it is formed during it's development

10- lake. Do you get to put out 4 stakes (property corners, 7 yer squatting and development rights, start setting up a cabin, make a dock, go fishing and trapping?
The lake is huge, and no matter depth, if there were fish there (stocked or natural, this is a great site for a retreat. Fish or no fish, there is always critter meat in the area to eat. And if minimal critters, then you have great options for planting veggies/herbs/fruit/nut trees across the landscape (in hidey gardens away from the critters) and you have immense food resources.

well its got the 2 B's beavers and bait fish which would indicate the presents of fish! productivity and and size?
well from the looks of that bog pond probably not that great, taste factor? once again probably not that great i find ponds like that the fish always taste muddy but a nice day in the woods non the less!

Would have been great to have a small inflatable boat so you could have tested the depth with some string and a rock.
I'd never seen the inside of a turtle shell, so thanks for that!
