Just a comment for everyone talking out their collective poop chutes about the -green wood- going to rot or shrink so badly it will be unlivable. do you think that the pioneers in the u. s. cut down trees and waited 3 years for them to dry in a nonexistent drying shack before they built their homes? Many of which are still standing and still occupied, by the way. This is a great cabin in the woods being built by guy's getting it done, instead of showing off their great skills as keyboard warriors or know-it-alls. Thanks for sharing fella's.

What you guys might not realize, is that many people might copy what you are doing, and they will have all the same problems with their cabins as you will have with this one. You are doing so many things wrong. Why would you not do them right when you are building a whole cabin? Don't you want it to last for many years to come? Why go through all that work and not do it properly? And why do you burn all that firewood? You seem to have no idea how much firewood you are going to need to heat the cabin. The deck is done all wrong too.

I learned more about rough framing fromrough sawen logs. at my age [70 ] i'll never be able to use. the info. question Why don't you use the down and dry ceader and pine in the wood stove? I heated my house for 32 years and it hurts me to see you burn all that wood2inches and larger. We have no needle trees in southern Wisc. ,just all broad leaf hard wood

Dude at least yall could tack a tarp stretched tight over the roof rafters temporarily to dry it in from the snow. At least till U get ur roofing. Right? Then U can get up there with a broom & ladder & sweep the snow off, take ur tarp up & put ur roofing metal on. At least it will keep ur inside structure dry until U get ur roofing.

are you gonna have a outhouse? free wood, buddy with the mill. ide be thinking, next year, big addition. shed for whatever. firewood, tractor, mill, canoe, theres a compant near Fergus, takes down barns ( was the compatition when i was doing that ) prob give ya barn roof steel for scrap price.

You should have gapped the deck boards. When they get wet they will swell. Cedar more than any wood. Even if dry. And use square head screws if you don't so you can retighten them every couple months.

The question here i have is. Dont you have to put some coating on the wood so it wont rott? I know wood like that in cold areas might not rott fast or it may take many years, though. just curious.
